Real world MPG on 2.0tfsi and 2.0tdi engines?
Discussion
Does anybody have any of the above engines in their VAG car. (211PS 2.0TFSI or the 170PS TDI) and if so what are your real world MPG figures?
Would be great if some TT and A5 coupe owners would be able to give their figures as these are the 2 cars I am looking at deciding between.
Thanks for any help.

I have 2008 A4 TFSI estate.
I get around 30mpg overall with moderate driving.
I have removed the ridiculous 19" wheels and fitted 17" with a slightly smaller rolling diameter, which will obviously affect the figure, plus the boot is always full of paperwork, tablecloths, tea towels and cutlery which are considerable in weight.
Equal to two passengers,I would guess.

I've got the 170 TDI in my 2010 A6 Avant. The engine has done 7000 miles and it's a manual gearbox.
If I make an effort to drive efficiently I can achieve 50mpg on cross-country routes, but 45 is fairly easy to achieve. Short journeys bring the average down to 40. Highest was 56mpg on a 15-mile cross-country run when the engine was already warm. On dual-carriageway driving I drive at about 65-75 mph. Cross-country I try to keep the rpm less than 1500. Yes, it's boring.
Recently I've been getting 620 miles out of a tank of 60-ish litres.
Mine has the silly wide S-Line tyres (for the imagine), and I believe that better mpg is easier on narrower tyres. Still, I'm pretty happy with the performance of mine, which Audi quoted at 47mpg for the combined cycle.

I thought Audi didn't make a 170ps 2.0TDI A6 as it's too close to the 2.7TDI and would compete against it?
FWIW my 56 plate 170ps 2.0TDI A3 made high 30's in town, low 50's at 70mph and mid 50's well driven on A roads and gave a combined of 48mpg.
My 57 plate 185ps (thanks to Revo Technik) 2.0TDI A6 avant makes similar but slightly lower figures, but the Revo Technik remap improved fuel efficiency by approx 10%

When reading this thread I thought somebody should do a "what Mpg" site
in English.
The German equivalent being http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ which has a large and
sound data base.

Don't think it's that accurate, my A3 i get on a long trip very good MPG, for example 200 miles to Bristol recently @65mph returned 73mpg. @75mph home it returned 64mpg, round town it drops to 40mpg, and very short runs to the shops only sees 34mpg.in English.

I dont think VAG trip computers are that accurate , I know Skoda ones arent, only way to be sure is to compare fill to fill results
I have, and compared mileages to Tomtom. Maybe mine is an oddity, but it's surprisingly similar to Tomtom in terms of mileage covered, and speed.Kevin
