All modern cars have their issues.
If you get a BWM of the same sort of age, the timming chains can break doing even more engine damage.
The Ford / Jagur TDCI 2,0 and 2,2 engine also have a habit of loosing timing chains after a tensioner failure.
Audi do generally offer goodwill on any major powertrain (engine or gearbox) failure, even outside of warranty
Did you get any goodwill contribution towards your repair ? ?
Also the newer Common rail engines are so much better than those old PD units.
these days if you google commmon faults on any car you will get hundreds, cars are actually getting better, its just the internet forums and social media means its easier to tell everyone when it goes wrong.
