Got my quote to buy for 25364 miles. Manual car urano grey with heated windscreen.

£18,997
Be interesting to guesstimate its value at 4yrs old and see how that stacks up vs leasing a similar new car.

Any tips for how to approach this or was it just a case of asking for a discount?

They needed to come down a fair bit before I would agree to buy. I pushed back twice and agreed with their 3rd price.
I then sold it to a local garage for £500 more than I paid VW and we agreed to split the profits from the sale. I ended up making £1,500 rather than just handing the car back :-)

Having mine serviced today, 19 months in to a 24 month deal. £164 including VAT for a minor service, fixed pricing through Inchcape dealerships.

I booked it online only yesterday. When I got to the dealership they a) initially had no record of the booking and b) when eventually found, the web company / call centre had completely messed up and manually booked me in for a main service.

I can’t believe in this day and age that the online booking form doesn’t go straight to the dealer. Someone had to type mine in manually. And the dealer was treating me like it was me who cocked up even though I showed them the confirmation email. Sheesh!

It’s been a good car for the lugging I do, but it’s really time for a change. Looking forward to a Volvo V90 Cross Country coming in June.

I'm intrigued how you managed that as that price is for the minor service for cars on fixed interval servicing that are over 3yrs old.

When I've looked the Inchcape online system doesn't show the price for servicing newer cars.

If they do it for that price then it's a bit of a result - I know it's not the cheapest price people have had but really it's the wrong service for these cars - they should have an oil change / inspection service. It's not like an Inchcape dealer to miss an opportunity to screw money out of a customer.

Has anybody contacted VWFS about handing the Alltrack back a little early?

I dropped them a note via the online form but they haven't replied yet.

My Alltrack contract is up at the start of June and I'm thinking of handing back in April and picking up my new Volvo V90. I'm going to be about 2k miles below my 16k allowance and just wondering what fee I might expect if I hand it back in April. Thoughts?

soup dragon- I did this. Just phone them up. You have to pay 50pc of any remaining rentals, so mine was £103.00. BCA are coming to inspect next week, then it’s gone.

Mileage is 2k under my contract allowance but I believe they may pro-rata the mileage over the term you’ve had it for to determine the average.

I think you can just request a settlement online and from what I've seen you just pay that and they'll arrange collection.
Now I've seen a few of the purchase prices mine will be going back within the next month or so.

You pay 55% of the outstanding payments plus prorata of the mileage if you are over. Hopefully you will same on having to pay for a service.

As I said they sort of tried to upsell me to a full service. Here’s the fixed price link I used.

https://www.inchcape-volkswagen.co.uk/our-services...

Hope the link works?

I called them first about just getting an oil service but they said there was no such menu item. So for the minor service with all the free checks they did, I thought it was good value at £164.00

Thanks. I was trying it through VW's site https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/service-bookin... with a random 18mth old Alltrack but it's not working at all at the moment.

If anyone has a high spec Alltrack please pm me - I know someone who is interesting in buying one in the next few months. Potentially you could buy it off VW and then sell it on and make a few £'s..

What constitues high spec?

And judging by the prices VW are coming out with I very much doubt it.

Doubtful there are many on the ultra-cheap lease deals who would have specified leather, or indeed many options unless taking a stock car. Optional extras tend to be amortised at full cost over the term unless they significantly enhance residual value.

For those worried about costs for any damage at end of lease:

My Alltrack was inspected by BCA today before it's collection on Friday. My nearside front door had a shallow dent which had been caused by someone opening a door on it. It was over the 25mm allowed so I will get a charge from VWFS of £165 plus VAT. I also had a scratch on the offside rear door I had been concerned about but this was deemed to be acceptable. Otherwise all OK.

If I owned the car and was selling it I would probably lose at least that or have to pay that for a repair so I guess it's a more than fair situation - and as I'm returning early no service required so offsets that cost. One front tyre replaced and spare swapped during my 16500 miles. All tyres still well over minimum.

All in all it's been a fantastic introduction to leasing and makes me worry less that I start a new lease with VWFS for an Arteon R-Line tomorrow. A good deal but sadly not as good as the cheap motoring I've had in my Alltrack for the last 20 months!

Got a price for my Alltrack today - 17.5k miles, 190bhp / DSG Auto, Urano Grey..... £22,500.00.

A lot more than I expected, so it's going back next week.

I've really enjoyed it despite the 1970's automatic gear box and enjoyed reading the threads here too!
