Go to enter an address, then look for the button on the keyboard marked "Ptcd", probably bottom left on the keyboard.

Enter the postcode using letters, numbers and spaces.

Done.
Nice one - thanks. beer

Just type in part of the address and it offers options - Seems pretty good to me (although the Ptcd tip is useful smile ) after the dire sat nav in my Mazda (admittedly it was 14 years old, but my Tom Tom One was much better and that's even older!)

A GTD AND an R? Surely the whole point of the R (over something more overtly sporting) is it does both really well.

A long journey in heavyish traffic on the motorway? Eco's perfect (you can always use the paddles if you need a swift overtake), you'll only get there 30 seconds earlier in Race! biggrin

An early morning blast on a deserted A road - Race and go!

General driving, Normal mode (although oddly this is the one I've not tried yet! biggrin)

M.
Instead of, not alongside. As in, if it's MPG you're interested in then why get a 300bhp car. TBF, I probably don't do enough motorway miles to appreciate any mode that actually saps power for the sake of MPG, but certainly found in my old S4 that Eco basically made the car feel like it was broken in the pursuit of a few extra mpg.
Yeah, I got that wink

Like I said, it's the 'master of all trades' element that makes the R so appealing.

What's the point of driving like you stole it if you're in 3 solid lanes of traffic doing 60-70 or, worse still, 10-20? Just select Eco, relax for a bit and enjoy the fact that you're saving a few litres while you pootle along with the diesel eco-boxes, without having to live with one all the time! smile

Maybe Eco mode has improved or just suits the Golf engine better.

It just feels more leisurely (changing up at lower revs) rather than 'broken'.

If you're going down a twisty A-road at 6 in the morning, then stick it in Race and let rip!

Tbh I have left mine in normal most the time, I forgot about eco on my way to and from alton towers, was going to try one on eco and one on normal.

I don't mind eco mode - I find I am a lot more relaxed in the R with the auto than I was in my diesel manual. Why do I want to get to work early when I won't be paid for it, so eco it is to and from work or normal, will be venturing into race mode this weekend I think as the missus is out and I will be on my own so seems like a good opportunity to go out in the R - and annoy her even more by washing it!

ALso stuck in Tesco momentum - its 116.9 round our way - ready to unleash RACE!

2nd day of ownership, bearing in mind I'd not even driven one but had test driven the new S3 as a replacement for my old one.

I can't actually fault it! (apart from the wheels which I'm in two minds about) goes like stink, the level of toys is very impressive as standard (as opposed to the S3 where most of the kit was an expensive option), handles very, very well and feels planted, the finish is very high, but the thing I am most excited about are the sweeping indicators biggrin

The only thing is the doors don't auto lock when you drive off, which they did in the Audi- is there a fix for this?

My dealer did it for me. So when I get to 5mph it autolocks. Have a look at the manual or failing that maybe under car settings.

Go into the car menu, then go into doors/windows I think?! Just a tick box option in there.

I've been considering getting mine done - just to help speed up the washing process. Seems a bit daft on a rental, but in my mind, I'm still driving it for a few years and want it at its best . . .

Have you had similar done before? Is it worth it?!

Cheers

I had paint protection on the Audi and it is still looking great. It only lasts for 3 years and as that is the length of the lease it makes sense to me. I also may wish to buy it at the end of the lease.

Don't think you can buy it at the end of the lease unfortunately.

My contract definitely says it's not a possibility (I scrutinise contracts for a living and unfortunately that spills over into my private life - sad I know).

The contract does state this, but some have still been offered.

Is it not that somebody else has to be the purchaser (rather than the original leaser)?

mine arrived today, a pre-facelift estate in solid red. Very happy with it. Average mpg is 36.2 after 265 miles, most of that mileage was the delivery driver who was called Colin and looked the sort to have sat at 69mph on the motorway all the way here. His trip mpg was 39.1 which is remarkable. I knocked a few off taking it for a quick blast in race mode. It certainly is brisk, well for a car at least. I've got a ZX9R as well so cars never feel properly fast by comparison, but the R certainly does shift. The ride is more supple than I was expecting which is nice, I was expecting it to be firmer. The noise making thing is already getting on my nerves, I have set individual mode to have the sound in eco, maybe that will dull it down if not I will unplug it. And, as is typical for a new car, a seagull has already done a massive st on the bonnet.

I had a letter today saying that Me, my friends or my family can have the opportunity to buy the car under vwfs driver sales programme. Dont know what is in my contract though as I was never interested in buying it.

The leaflet I got through from VWFS today seems to suggest it's possible . . .

Confused by these MPG figures..

Are these for DSG equipped cars?

Best i've seen in eco mode is about 33 mpg. Average is about 24.

I average 26ish in my DSG Estate (Pre-facelift). Best I've seen is 40.6.
