I'm looking at tyres, and am thinking Goodyear Eagle F1s or Michelin PS4s, there's an £11 price difference between the two, I would normally sway towards the Goodyears anyway, no matter what the price was. Does anyone have any idea which is better?

I had PS4s and thought they were great but never tried the Goodyears. Were way better than the Potenzas it came with.

I had Goodyear Eagle F1 on my last BMW.

Rears lasted 30,000 miles and fronts 40,000. Mainly motorway but was almost double the distance I got with Bridgestone Potenza.
My colleague swears by Michelin PS4s, but he does go through a set of rears every 15,000 miles, never tried them myself.

Ps4s have had better reviews.

Ps4s have better rim protection. The new as3s have less than the as2.

Ps4s are a little more expensive.

I have the as3s. They are quieter than their predecessors.

I haven't tried them both.

Mine came with Potenzas on, and I swapped the fronts at 11k to PS4s. The rears needed doing at 19k (which I put Potenzas on again for the miles left on the lease). But the Michelins on the front still have loads left so I would think I would have been good for way over 20k for rears on mine. Different driving styles etc though

I take it you mean Pilot Sport 4 and not Pilot Sport 4S, which is a lot more expensive but apparently pretty much the best you can buy.

I'm interested myself - reviews evaluate the PS4 as much better than the F1 Asymmetric 3. I had run Asymmetric 2 before and thought it was a fantastic tyre so I'm a little surprised the the new version is relatively poorly rated.

Currently I'm inclined to go for the PS4 but would love to hear from people who actually drive on them. The only real shortcoming seems to be the road noise, which almost every review mentions.

Chaps, for those already in their car what has your service interval been set to?

I was always under the impression these leases were 2yr/20k miles, but my car shows an OIl Service due in 60 days, which is 1yr from registration.....I've only done 7k miles.

I need to dig out my paperwork, I'm sure it mentioned the service intervals, but if someone can check their car i'd be grateful. Mine is leased with VWFS.

I found the post at the bottom of this page on the VWROC forum useful - http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/7174-fixed-or-va... Seems to have been posted by a VW technician or at least someone who works within VW.

Looks like Oil inspections are flagged up by the car according to how they are driven. Mine is saying it is due soon also which will be when it is approx. 1 year old.

The wife's MK7 GTI is doing likewise.

From the link above: " I think the most I've ever seen an Audi do is 15k before the oil change came up" Oil change in my Audi is showing at 17000 miles. It started with 9500miles and was extending until it hit 17000. The shortest runs I do are 20 miles minimum, sometimes 1000 miles in one go.

Had a test drive in Golf R at Gatwick. It was pre-fl model. It was ok but noise in the cabin was quite noticeable comparing to Audi A8, but that's expected. Also heard some rattle from plastics. It was 66 reg car with 5K miles on a clock. If VWFS comes up with reasonable quote, I'm keeping Audi. Have to wait one more week before they will quote. If it's unreasonable I will wait for Golf deals.

Lady at dealership was very nice and told me she has a special folder with list of people waiting for Golf R deals and told me to be quick if I want one when the deal comes up. Also mentioned that in most cases cars are already scheduled for production and only colour can be changed, rarely options can be added.

Yes one thing I found when I got my S5 was how much quieter it was than the Golf in terms of road noise, and as you say it should be expected.

Mine's due in about the same amount of time. I only do short journeys commuting to work and back then longer ones at the weekend.

I have oil due in about 2 months (I'm on 8k) then a major service around the time of handing it back.

Good evening all!

New to leasing so some advice please. I took a pre-FL golf r out for a test drive the other day and absolutely loved it. After a bit of research I think leasing is the way forward. I can see looking on here that everyone is waiting for the 'good deals'? What would you guys expect a good lease price / deal to be on a 9+23 8000 miles? I've so far had a quote for £311 p/m. Also, ideally I wouldn't want a car until August but have heard horror stories about delayed cars from factory. Would it be best to wait closer to the time or can you put a 'delayed' order for August?

Cheers in advance!

Well the latest estate R deal was just over 7k over 2 years, yours is currently nearer 10k, which is getting towards s4 saloon sorta money...

I'm in the same boat, considering leasing to see how it fairs over pcps, so if nothing happens with the R I may look to stretch to an s4, but will see...

Ah ok that's fair. Do I just keep my eyes peeled on here until someone posts where a good deal is being advertised or is there somewhere else I need to be keeping an eye?

Yes the S4 has also tempted me. I'm keeping my options open. Any advice about an August car? Can you be picky when leasing or just have to take it whenever it arrives?

From my research on here, it's best to keep an eye on the lease thread, and also have a look at the CHL site to see what comes out...

Right place right time and you can apparently get a corker of a deal but I guess you have to very quick, flexible with your preference, and in a position to order whenever they appear...
