£9,581.634 for 5K miles only. Nothing special, plenty of similar deals on Contracthireandleasing website but including 8K or 10K.

But immediate availability, so might appeal to someone.

Do we think there will be much chance of seeing R deals getting anywhere near the pricing that we have seen in the past?

I was hoping that there might be some deals coming in under £250pm but its seeming very unlikely at the moment.

I'm sat here wondering how long my patience can last waiting for a sub 250 R estate

I personally think not as from what I remember reading on here VW underestimated the residuals on the "performance" mk7s which may mean they cannot afford to make the mistake again. Doesn't mean deals won't happen but a new R on 24/10k for under £7k is very unlikely IMO.

I've just sold my 330d on the basis of hoping a good R/GTI deals comes along soon, now the dilemma of how long to wait, or what to buy 2nd hand if I get bored waiting

Mine is £250/month with a £1600 initial payment on 8k miles. Should be here early June.

All this talk of £250 a month is not going to happen in my opinion on the newer 7.5 R.

VW themselves know as soon as the release the r for lease they will be gone in a flash.

To get one for £250 a month you will need to pay some sort of deposit - they will no way release any at £250 a month again, with a £250 deposit.

I have one for £256 a month because its 10k miles a year, deposit was £1500 ish. Broken down it works out at £307 a month.

Might see the hatch at £1400 deposit and about £230 a month at best imho. I would be surprised if it goes lower.

GTI may have good deals again - but I don't think they will be as good on the R as they were previously - they will sell out easy on whatever "cheap" price VW do - so why shoot themselves in the foot with a really cheap deal? They don't need to.

i've no problem laying down a deposit. Something similar to the previous R Estate deals but for a 5dr DSG hatch would work for me personally.

A GTI is still an option if decent deals come out but im not really a fan of the standard black paint, standard wheels or standard interior so would be inclined to spec it and by that time i could potentially be approaching standard R monies which has a far nicer interior etc as standard imo.

You do realise it would be an up front payment, not a deposit?

No point specing options on a lease. That said, I did add red paint to my R lease...

I have no problem with a down payment, if I could get one for around £6500 on 2 years and 10k miles I'd go for it.
Ideally I want to buy but simply cannot afford it, so I might add a sunroof simply because it cannot be added later unlike most other extras. I'd then hope to buy it at the end.
My other option is to buy 2nd hand of course

i call it deposit but fully aware its an up front payment.

whats your reasoning for not adding options to a lease. Personal preference only?

You pay 100% for options during lease period. It increases total cost significantly.

Although you might only pay 20% of the cost of the car in a lease, you will pay 100% of the cost of any options.

So effectively the options are 5 times more expensive when leasing than when buying.

well yes it increases cost. that is obvious.

but if you get a decent enough deal on lease much like the Golf GTI and R deals of the past, even with adding a few options which fit your purpose, the cost of ownership over the the lease period is still effectively financially better than potentially walking into a dealer and purchasing new on a cash or pcp basis over the same period.

Surely the purpose of all this is to have the cheapest deal that suits you?

That's the thing, you don't know that will definitely be the case as you can't forecast what the likely selling price (if comparing properly) a private cash sale after two years. The fact that there are low lease deals signifies good residuals.
