Looks OK, but who would buy such a car to do 5K a year?

I've only had mine a month and I've done 1200 already! redface

I can see me getting a cheap Clio or similar to run around in towards the end of my term at this rate! biggrin

OK, in reality it's a bit of an exceptional month for me - 200 miles delivery, 450 round trip to Plymouth - I'll do that once a year probably - and a trip to Gatwick - But 5K really assumes nearly no use!

It's not a limit. Excess mileage is probably around 10p per mile. Extra 10k over the term = £1000 or £42per month. Just factor it in for the full price

£318 for the Golf R Estate DSG for 10k per year seems good to me, in fact I'm now dissapointed that I have a GTI due for delivery shortly!
It's 6.6p per mile, and you get a 40% discount on that when you buy during your contract... did it on my last Golf R... bagged an extra 20k miles for a very low price!

Maybe! I will see what happens and wait for responses!

I guess worst case scenario the deals change every month so i will just wait it out.

However if anyone finds any deals in the mean time please let me know! Thankyou!

Estate you get more exhaust noise, and don't have any silly flaps to make it quieter - its loud all the time (well say loud - its not overly loud like barry boys exhaust etc).

Deals are currently around £0 a month cheaper and £100 knocked off deposit compared to deals last quarter for estate.

That may have changed as only looked first thing this morning, takes a few hours for whatcar to update with dealers etc.

If going for a Golf R, my preference would be for the hatch too. However, as we all know, the more specific the criteria with have for a car, the less likely we are to be able to find a cracking deal. Sometimes we have to sacrifice certain criteria in looking for a lease in order to secure the best deals. For some, an estate will be acceptable, even though the less preferred of the body types. For other, it rules out the deal completely.
Indeed and for some the other way.

The hatch was too small for my needs, but the Estate is great, so I was very pleased to get one on a good deal.

Is it as good as the hatch? No idea, but it'll do! biggrin

Really? My octavia in 2015 was 6p+vat but my Golf I have ordered is about 10p+vat I think.
At what point did you purchase your extra mileage? My octavia is almost 6k over and is due to go back in october so was expecting a £500 bill

Is this available from all VW dealers? The T&Cs on Stable Leasing's website registration before end of March '18 which would fit in nicely for my current lease car going back.

If you buy from VWFS it's 6p+vat if you buy from arval etc it's more (well is on my current Tiguan and previous Golf R), you have to be over 6 months from the end of your deal or they won't do it...

Just double checked my contract, yes 6p + vat per mile.

Yep exactly the same for me too. I asked Central Vehicle Leasing and the chap I was emailing said he could delay delivery to October. :-/

Current deals have 9p + vat excess miles and they are direct from dealers. VWFS must have changed excess prices.

I thought about Golf R, in anticipation of the deal, but decided against it. 50l fuel tank is just too small. From what I read here, 30mpg is average and it would make me rather unhappy to have 350 miles range only. Scirocco annoyed me in past and it had 32mpg average and 55l tank. That was my main concern. Other was the fact that cars are stolen.

Does anybody know the cost of cancelling a lease order ? Seeing the deals for the R estate Its cheaper than the cupra I ordered back in May (late aug/sept delivery) I put a £250 holding fee down. Would that be all I lose or will i be charged more ? I've seen a few people cancel orders for various reasons.

From what I remember, uchoosecontracts is a dealer/fleet sales dept. "Formed in 2010 part of the family owned and run franchised Swansway Garages Group which comprises the following brands Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Honda, Landrover, Peugeot, Citroen, Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo."

Its still not bad though is it? If its 12p per mile, and so you can do 10,000 miles for £1200 that's getting 1/2 as much use of the car again vs a 20k contract for nowhere near 50% of the cost. I know depreciation doesn't work like that but if you need to do the miles and its not crazy miles then its still worth it IMO.

This is the excess mileage I have to contend with, however, I will be waiting until about 18 months in where I will ask to buy a bundle of miles as it should be a lot cheaper... either way I don't really mind, it's all fun miles in the Golf R!

Yeah my S5 is around 12p+VAT and I aren't worried even though I am over at the moment. Will just ring them when its a year old and get it changed. The extra I am using the car is for work and I get the 45p per mile which about breaks even accounting for fuel and tyres.
