I totally agree. I look after the cars I lease in exactly the same way I look after the cars I own. They get properly run in, lovingly washed once every couple of weeks, paintwork gets protected etc etc. My last Golf R when back absolutely spotless, as did the GTI before that.
Same here - wouldn't have the heart to rag it cold etc.

We're a different bread here on PH though.

I am paying just over £300 p/m for my R which is due to go back in January. I asked for a 1 year extension and their offer was just over £400 p/m. I will be a couple of thousand miles over on the mileage but even so, not a very attractive deal i'm sure you'll agree. So its going back.
Who was your finance provider? I've done 2 extension requests on my Golf R in recent months and both increased the monthly from 270 to 350+ for the same milage 8k. So its going back in December.

I also got a quote to buy it - Alphabet do this but it has to go to a 3d party. They wanted £22800 (66 plate, 5dr hatch, metallic 15k miles). Is this reasonable? looks like they go for 23-24 on the Trader.

Has anyone come across any interesting Golf R Lease deals in the past few weeks.

Best I can find is 319/month, on 3+23. Which I think is pretty reasonable and am tempted to pull the trigger.

Miles?

Best I've seen is about 340 quid for the estate on 10k miles 24 months.

My wife got one of these hot lease deals in 2014 for two years and managed to extend it, on the same terms, for three years. This will end in July. She wants another one, so where exactly are the good deals? Her current company are offering the R for 70pm more than now, like for like, which seems reasonable.

That doesn't sound too bad. I got a cheap hatch in 2015 and extended it for a 3rd year - back then the list price was £30k. I took delivery of an R estate this March - they're almost £36k list so I'm paying a bit more for this one - about £50 a month over the term compared with my basic hatch but it does have nav, heated seats, virtual dash etc which my last one didn't.

8k - maintenance is very low as well, circa £10 a month.

Had the service for the R done, just a oil change, £165.

Oil was changed at 13800 miles - obviously it depends on yhour driving, although I don't think they have reset it properly, as it states 360 days till service, 715 days till inspection. Before the car was serviced it was 220 days.

Have they buggered it up? Am I not on long life servicing any more?

Seems to be I am not, I checked this morning, 9300 miles till next oil service.

I just had exactly the same on my TT! Went in last week for an oil change, it's come out saying 19k miles/ 715 days until Inspection and 9400 miles/ 365 days for Oil. Am not convinced it's on Longlife anymore, sneaky...

Standard practice. I received a letter from VW advising the same when I was 6 months away from the end of my previous Audi A4. It must have some impact on getting people to sign up for new leases with them, or else they'd not do it. smile
I have 8 months left - started 6/6/17. But yeah would get another lease if there were some good deals!
Got mine a couple of weeks back, my car arrived on 5/6/17 smile

I'll probably start looking seriously in January.

No idea if I'll lease or buy next time, but I'll see what kind of deal (if any) they'd offer on buying the car as it ticks a lot of boxes for me, even if it's not the most exciting car I've ever owned and I know it's been well looked after (it's done 90%+ of its miles in Eco mode and I've still never found an opportunity to try out the launch mode!)

I'm not sure what to do - the current deals are pants tbh, so I can see me buying, with a second kid on the way the space of the golf is fine, the running costs aren't too bad, i'm mostly in eco mode, I hate the fake sound noise it really annoys me, and really notice the difference in sound between eco and normal, sport is just horrible. I'm probably going to un plug the soundakutator thing.

I'm not sure about buying mine, it ticks boxes, but I think I just expected too much, the reviews were mad for it, me not so much, I think it is the driving I do though - if I was in yorkshire for example with some lovely country roads I would probably love it more.

I am starting to think its not the car for me and maybe a S4 is what I am more after - got pace, but a bit softer round the edges.

The golf r is a incredibly capable car - I certainly don't love it - and it was way noisier at 130 mph in germany compared to my diesel astra - tyre noise was ridiculous, but thats th etyres not the cars fault

I've just signed up for a new Golf R

Smart leasing solutions.
6+35
11k miles per year.
Mk7.5 5 door Hatchback DSG
Lapiz Bllue
£359 p/m

It's not great, and it's about £45 per month more than I'm paying on my current Mk7, but it's about the best I could find at the moment.

Could have probably get a PCP deal around that? Not sure if there’re any other benifits/disadvantages to it but you could build up a little bit of equity with pcp?

Hi all, I have never looked at any form of car financing so help and advice will be appreciated please.

I've finally decided on a Golf R dsg 3 or 5 door in lapiz blue. Would be a bonus to have cadiz rims and I hear the suspension and audio are good options.

I am looking at 6+35 on 10k (unless 8k and excess I cheaper). Cheapest I can see on leasing.com is £341 with Smart Leasing Solutions. £2k initial payment, £263 fee. All Inc vat. I guess this is cost for bog standard.

Any idea if now is a good time to start a lease or likely to be cheaper options in new year? Anywhere else cheaper or any other advice please?

Many thanks,
Kieren

I don’t know what the current lease deals are like value wise, but it’s worth being aware that when you lease your are best to avoid extras as you pay for many outright in your payments. I do like the dsg and a decent paint colour but personally I stuck with 18s, standard audio, cloth and normal suspension and have never regretted it. Am on my second R lease.

I did the same. Avoid options on a lease wherever possible!

Thanks for your feedback guys. I thought that may be the way forward and good to hear you haven't regretted with only those options. I had in mind I will probably only opt for different colour and dsg. Stick with standard wheels etc.

Will be good if anyone can let me know on best deal for my first lease? Also if timing in the year makes a difference, or just go for it? Thanks.
