We have just changed the fronts on ours at 23k, pretty amazed by that , doesn’t get driven hard unless I’m in it , rears probably have another 3k in them

Jeeeezusss... all 4 on ours needed replacing around 13k iirc
Heh, I don't feel quite so bad now...mine'll do around that. Thanks PpS3!
One thing i did find on the R was the brakes - mine seemed to be very light on them. After 20k miles the fronts were only 40% worn. i've never had a car that good on brakes (except the i3 but that's cheating)

The S3 needed the fronts replacing at 23k

To be honest I’ve probably only driven it for 500 miles , I found I was driving like an t-t every time I was in it so started taking the 1.6 zafira to protect my license !

Pff driving faster is better for the environment and economy..

you get there quicker so your engine is running less time
you're on the road less so you help ease congestion
you buy more petrol, helps the economy too smile

WHOA WHOA WHOA....

I've only just found this thread as i'm looking at picking up a Golf R as the next car and i'm FLABBERGASTED by the monthly rentals that people are talking about.

£240pcm for a Golf R?... for 24 months?

Are these deals still about or am I waaaay too late for these? Which sites were / might be in future presenting these offers?

Help me! I need one in my life :-)

2 years too late, cheapest was way back in 2014, something silly like 195 a month people were paying, with little or no deposit.

Yeah, I think they're up around £360-380ish a month on an 3+24/8k now. Nowhere near as appealing a prospect!

That's a little misleading - that figure is a 9-month initial rental on 5k miles/yr...
I said wasn't great - but better than this:

Get in touch with VWFS and see if they will sell you extra miles cheaper than your excess mile cost.
Called them. Works out a bit cheaper ie with admin fee and increased payment over 13 months = £732.02 extra whereas if I do exactly 10k more then it’s £900 at 0.9p a mile (I think).
So I may stick with the mileage charge at the end as there is a chance my mileage drops.

Gulps.

Before i receive a hail of laughter down the telephone from my dealer, anyone fancy offering a smidge of hope for anyone wanting a 3+24 deal for less than £380pm Inc before factory options?

Make sure you ask for the business team and ask for a pch deal (these WERE the cheap deals).

Still quoting the car as a 310 bhp version, which is long gone

Crikey! , just got an updated extension quote for an extra year and extra 5k over the current 10k a year, £475.98! Or an increase of £172 a month , wtf! They must desperately want it back , they can have it

Used cars seem to be holding value extraordinarily well. I think perhaps because there have been 0 R deliveries since at least October due to WLTP.

They probably want it back ASAP to flog it before new ones start appearing and values start to go down again.

I’m lucky I got mine when I did then! I specced a 3dr one with Dynaudio in May but that got delayed by WLTP. Lease company found a cancelled one on the boat on its way over (5dr without Dynaudio) and managed to secure that one for me. It was delivered mid August. If I said “nah I’ll wait for my 3dr thanks” I’d probably still be waiting and the lease company would sting me for much more money.

TBH it probably did you a favour price-wise too - any option on a lease car is terrible value and I have to say that I've never been disappointed by the standard audio setup in mine.

Whose the Lease/CH with?

Mine's due to finish in October & am with VWFS. To date i believe they've been fairly generous on extension figures (usually less than the original payments), but i intend to buy mine at the end of the lease so if not favourable then would just purchase this year rather than next.

Fleetsauce and alphabet, spoke to alphabet today hoping for an error but no , she made up all sorts of excuses like it’s the depreciation that’s made it so expensive then blamed the broker!
