The Golf R lease thread
Discussion
Just to add my experience of this, I had a MK7 estate for 24 months which was just under $200pm, 10k p.a. I then got a Mk7.5 which is just under $300pm (paid more for Lapiz plus no great deals around :/ ) also for 10k pa (both for $1,500 initial rental).
Quote today to extend the 7.5 for 6 or 12 months at $240 pm plus a $60 admin fee. Nothing lease wise I fancy at the moment which gives the same performance and practicality so going to extend and then hopefully deals will appear for MK8 when it is released!
Assessment was very fair when I had the first car collected.
Excuse the '$' my pound sign has moved and cannot find it!

Just had email from VW regarding extending due to current situation.
Seems logical - to continue at £205 per month.
Although my mileage is down now due to lock down.
Price to buy was £19,300 in March, in april this dropped to £18,300. Thats for a 3 year old r estate with 28k miles. 7.5 version. Lease spec white.

Hey - I got the same options - think mine is going to go back and we will go down to one car, I don't drive much now so a good opp. to save some readies.Seems logical - to continue at £205 per month.

We are due to go to germany in August - who knows if we will get to go currently - but we would not be able to take my wifes car for that as all our stuff won't fit (1.2 pug on the autobahn could be fun!).So will possibly extend for 3 months - then sort something out.

Has anyone who ordered one of the Golf R Estates in December have an update on their order? Mine was due March with delivery in May. Broker hasn't a clue whether the car is in the country, which is somewhat understandable, however would be good to know.
Thanks.
Have you looked at the tracker on the vw website ?Thanks.

I ordered mine through Lister between Christmas and the new year; delivered on 17 March. Only managed the grand total of 145 miles in it since then. Working from home, etc.Thanks.
I had my letter through from VWFS about the contract coming to an end and they've told me to contact BCA to make the arrangements.
Tried the online portal, tells me they can't find my details.
Called BCA - offices closed
Called VWFS - an automated message tells me they are not doing vehicle collections due to Covid-19 and to leave it somewhere safe for the foreseeable future...?
So why send me the letter then unless it was just spat out by an automated system?
Guess it will just have to sit on the drive until it is collected but they didn't mention if it needs to be insured or not? Do I need to insure it but can't drive it? Bit of an annoying situation...

I would email vwfs to make sure they have your perspective in writing. Tried the online portal, tells me they can't find my details.

I have extended mine at same price due to Covid-19 - mainly due to our holiday in August (who knows if that will happen or not right now).
So I have 4 months extended - so will go back beginning of October.
Also that gives me a sense of financial stability right now too. Was going to jump on the A4 deal - but going from the golf r to a 35tfsi a4 (5 seconds 0-62 to around 8.9) is a jump too far me thinks.

I would have probably done the same if I actually needed a car right now.So I have 4 months extended - so will go back beginning of October.

I'll take it out for a few farewell spins before it goes back (or sits on the drive)...
Golf R Estate (66 plate) is coming up to 3 years for me now. That was an initial 24 month plus another 12 month extension.
I asked Arval how much to buy and they said £18.5k.
Tempted to buy it, I actually love the car. I can see myself having it for some years. Started thinking about getting a ECU+TCU remap... some nice wheels. Maybe 15 mmm drop...
Though I'm now scanning the classifieds to see what else is out there. Wondering if there are some bargains to be had out there, it's surely a buyers market isn't it?

BTW, I've spoken to Arval who use BCA and the situation is if you don't want the car any more they are asking people to just park the cars up and not use them. They will insure the cars and will come pick them up as soon as they can.
Yes - had an email reply from VWFS stating the same so it will just sit on my drive gathering dust until they collect it....James-3xop5 said:

I'm not seeing any, because no-one can really sell at the moment.I asked Arval how much to buy and they said £18.5k.

The gamble is whether you dump the car and hope there are bargains to be had, when they can again.
How, though, is your 66 plate car only coming up to 3 years? My 17 plate one is!
