Pooped in to a local VW today to have a gander as although I've ordered I have never actually seen an 'R' estate. They had an estate on site but wasn't able to sit in. Had a good look over the hatch though. Love it and am very much looking forward to delivery. Although I will be sad for our X-Trail lease to end in September as that has been a brilliant car for our needs.
Quick question; Are the standard mirrors chrome or colour coded. The VW brochure lists both as standard features. I had assumed chrome was standard and colour coded was a free option?
Yes, believe you are correct. Silver/chrome as standard. Do not google Golf R wing mirror theft (you are going to google it now arent you? )Quick question; Are the standard mirrors chrome or colour coded. The VW brochure lists both as standard features. Is that the standard white or the pearl white?
Standard white. On the estate it was a no cost option for me.rufmeister said:
Any images of it out on the road? Still not confirmed colour choice...
The Pretorias make a huge difference too, but way too expensive for a lease.
Sorry m8, I'm sitting in it....The Pretorias make a huge difference too, but way too expensive for a lease.

This is probably a stupid question but I've not had a lease before...do they take the up front payment when it's time to collect the car or will they take any money earlier? Just want to make sure I don't need to transfer any money into the bank account I gave when signing up to the deal before it's necessary.

This lease lot are very trusting. Mine said that they will take it 14 days after delivery and then the other 23 each month after that.Starting to really like this lease thing, is it new

Still waiting on a build number for mine but did get a confirmation from Nick that I'd been accepted in the big email he sent so I imagine I'll get one once he's caught up on emails.
Anyone know why the estate R has the standard rear lights and not the LED ones?
Also not sure what to do with my current car at the moment, it's a PD160 Ibiza Cupra but probably not worth much now.. Maybe 3k private so not sure what I'm best doing with it..

I don't have an order number yet (well I do but it's 12 digits and not the 8 required by the VW system and my number seems to be the same as my quote number).
All signed off on Thursday and deposit taken so hoping I'm OK - dealer said they'd get back to me sometime this week with more info at which point I'll ask for the proper order number.

I have had full confirmation this morning that my order is all sorted - I was planning on a standard red with App-connect, but due to availability of slots (Dealer had some quotes in the system as the deal closed, and hadn't got mine back - but could use another slot), I am going for a basic car, but in Night-blue (which was chosen by my son!)
Looking forward to the new car - although it will be interest to contrast it against my current Vectra VXR estate, which on paper is also quite similar - a bit bigger, but similar weight, and with 300BHP (mapped from 280) - but with 400lbft. the Vectra has been a great car for the past 7 years, so I am hoping the Golf is as good as the hype suggests.

It was only in a bit of post-ordering research that I realise that the boot and loading is bigger than the A4 Avant. Also went to see one in the flesh and was quite impressed.
It's not quite Audi build/finish but it's pretty good.
Yes, it's a very decent size. You can play around with the boot floor too, either having a small lip and a load of extra storage underneath (plus the cubbies on either side), or remove all the supports to drop it right down. There's a neat stowage place for the load cover too. It's not quite Audi build/finish but it's pretty good.
Strong too, this is in the high position with maybe 120kg of concrete on it:

Did you post this pic on the GolfR forum? If so, did you also mention something about roof bars? I will need bars and cycle carrier options for my estate when it lands, if you or anyone else has any recommendations. Thanks.Strong too, this is in the high position with maybe 120kg of concrete on it:

Yep. I'm using Thule Wingbars as I already had them from my previous car, with the 775 feet that work with any estate with similar rails. Thule 591 carriers have been working great for me, although I think those have been replaced with the improved 598 now.Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
