Yep - I'm in. smile

Night blue manual 5 door. It's around £750 up front and £215pcm based on 7k miles. Awesome deal. I drove a GTI and R a few weeks ago and much preferred the GTI (especially with manual box) so was really excited to see these deals. I've heard some say delivery in 14 weeks, other expecting this year - I should get my confirmation on expected delivery date early next week.

I ordered it through VW themselves from a guy who posted on the lease thread.

Was quoted 6-8 weeks for delivery of mine, so fingers crossed no delays and it's here before Xmas.

The first non-white model here to smile

Why did you prefer the gti? I'm also in.... apparently! I took a cancelled order at my local dealer. I was beginning to think I made a mistake but your post has made me feel otherwise.

I thought it was more nimble and fun - better turn in, and more feel through the corners, and a bit lighter on its toes.

The R is an awesome car, too, but it felt a bit heavier, a bit more grown up and less involving.

Both very impressive bits of engineering, though, and I just felt the GTI would be more fun.

Wow - that's quicker than I expected - I can't wait to hear back from my dealer this week to see what he thinks...

I did hear from a dealer that all cars GTi/R that had leather specs were very delayed due to an issue with the leather supplier. Fingers crossed the delivery times I was quoted are close to the mark.

Wow the deals are cheap.

Hopefully won't see loads of them on the road like the R and GTD, as an owner of a gti it's nice not too see them very much!

The GTi is over 100kg lighter so it would make sense to be a little more nimble.

Good to hear. I need another fun car so I hope it delivers.

Ive currently got the R which ends in march, i may decide to get the GTI as I currently have a offer on the table waiting to be signed. Would I notice much difference between the two? I know the awd is a feature I will lose but i dont drive like a madman going around corners at crazy speeds. I just like my straight line power, the gti will surely keep me happy right? Lol

To say you won't notice a difference would be a lie I think. You are loosing 70-80hp from the R going to a GTi so acceleration times will be slower naturally. Having said that the GTi is not exactly slow.

If you have the opportunity I would get yourself down to a dealer for a drive in one before signing any documents.

I have driven the R and it is nice, but for the sake of the cheap deal on the GTi I couldn't really turn it down. Loosing the awd and the extra HP doesn't really bother me to the point of being a deal breaker.

As an gti owner I'd say it's pretty good, but obviously you're going to notice a difference.

I think it's plenty fast enough for most of the time, I don't see much else on the way to work that could keep up and overtaking is no problem .

gets to 60 in 2nd, put it in 3rd and keeps pulling. Mines got the performance pack, not sure how much difference that makes to the car as a whole

Plus in remap for a few hundred guide should give decent horsepower gains (probably not allowed on a lease!) but more hp combined with lighter weight should make them very closely matched.

I also got in on the early CVL deal.

GTI 5dr Manual in Pure White, no options
£199.24 initial (after cashback)
23 x £198.92
5k miles per annum
7.2ppm excess

I would've liked to have added App Connect, but apparently that would've pushed the delivery date back. I'm sure I can live without it for 2 years.

Mine is already showing up on the tracker - just says 'With The Factory'. I've been quoted end of November delivery - going to be a long few weeks!

I've not even driven a GTI yet - drove a GTD the other week as we were planning on getting a 'sensible car' but that idea went out the window as soon as the GTI deals were posted.

I think the golf gti is very sensible. New = reliable. No MOT. 40+ mpg on a run. Practical.
