I now have my car just under three weeks, I went for standard "lease" black and then only added privacy glass and virtual cockpit.

One of my other cars has a flat bottomed steering wheel and to be honest it doesn't excite me or interest me so I didn't bother ordering the S5 with it. Having driven it for 800 miles now I can say that I haven't noticed not having the flat bottom steering wheel. In my opinion a waste of money.

I think without pretty fast the car would look a little unusual, so I'm really glad I added it in as an option.

If rear cupholders had been an option when I ordered I definitely would have ticked that box as I think it's ridiculous it doesn't come with them.

I love my music, but couldn't justify the cost of the B&O system. I have plenty of cars with very high end sound systems and have enjoyed all of them. I've got to say I'm really pleased with the standard system, the quality of sound is very clear, it does lose a little bit on the high end with the volume up, but in all honesty I am glad I didn't waste my money. If I was ordering again now I would stick with the standard system.

Over the last couple of weeks I've driven a handful of occasions late at night and I'm really impressed with the exterior lights in terms of brightness and auto dipping response. I genuinely don't think you need the upgrade exterior lights as I can't see that they could improve night-time driving by much.
the interior lighting on the car is truly fantastic, mine is a standard package and I've been really impressed. I don't think the ability to change the interior colours is really worth paying extra for. My Jaguar has this as an option, it is quite nice that the car automatically switches the interior lighting to red if you switch the car into dynamic mode, but I don't know if the Audi would do this and having experienced it I don't think I want to pay extra for it.
So again my suggestion would be to save your money and spend it on something else more worthwhile, however this clearly is all subjective.

Colour wise, the flat black does look fantastic when clean, but as everyone knows not easy to keep clean. We haven't had any rain since took delivery of the car, so all I have to do is rinse and top up my polish - I'm dreading change in the weather as I think of the cleaning it every other day.
I had a Daytona Q7 a few years back, that seemed to hide the dirt fairly well.

As for the fuel economy, I can't see how anyone could own this car and get any better than early 20s over an average. I've driven in various different situations now with a little bit of city driving, the rest being cross-country and a 400 mile round trip to Devon and back and my car is showing 23.5 MPG.
Out of interest, of the Devon trip I managed to get 30 MPG cruising on the motorway with a little bit of stop start with a bit of traffic.
Cheers for the response. Did you miss something out when you wrote "I think without pretty fast the car would look a little unusual". Privacy glass?

I need to make the decisions by Monday, so all the feedback is helpful... smile

Had my Sportback for 1.5 weeks now, the only options I added were VC and red callipers.

I was 50/50 on the callipers or p glass, and I'm happy with my choice, the windows seem to be fairly heavily tinted anyway. The red callipers through the cavos alloys are very nice, and in my opinion subtly highlight more, the preformance of the car.

I'm glad I didn't get the flat bottomed wheel, it was the only thing I tried to add, but misssed the deadline, but in actual fact I think the round wheel in real life look and feels really good and there is a reason most wheels are round!

I've come from a Bose system in my old car and there is a difference, but if the Bose was a 10/10 the Audi is a 8.5/10, so good enough for me.

I love a sunroof, but couldn't justify the cost.

Solid black is very hard work, I'd have gone for navara blue or misano red...or datona grey, but again couldn't justify the cost, and the black/red looks awesome...clean.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioning the sports diff, dampers or steering options!

Is it just the cost of these on a lease car that's putting people off, or just different priorities?

Hi guys,

I've got a quote of £11408 total for a 24 month lease.
No added spec
10k miles
This is with Watford Audi.

Is this considered a good deal? If not, what should I be aiming for?

Good point, not been mentioned yet has it? I never bothered as it was costly, and since I never had it in the past I won't be missing it now...My reasoning anyway.

My long term mpg memory is showing 29.4mpg for 1000 miles. I've only used Tesco 99 or Shell Nitro+

For me they would have ruined the cost they work out at around £4k don't they? If so that's adding around 35% of the cost for what May be 10% more enjoyment when driving hard which may only be 10% of the time if lucky! If buying I would have considered all three as it would have made the car more desirable for resale even if it didn't retain much of option value. Again one of the reasons I think 100% option cost on leases is BS. Most people wanting second hand S5s will be wanting these options on I bet!

They look like the old style wheels on that car...

My son would like the colour though as it looks similar to the option they do on the Focus ST smile

Yes, I'd say that's a particularly good price.

The black pack looks particularly good with the Nardo! IMHO black pack and wheels on the blue and the red is too chav for me, but each to their own smile

FWIW Nardo doesn't seem to be on the colours list so it must be Audi Exclusive so isn't that at least 2 grand?

Sorry, I use dictation software for typing pretty much anything these days as I suffer with dyslexia. Every now and again I find that it makes a mistake like this one.

Not normally keen on black pack or black wheels but that looks fing smart with the grey. I do like that grey though. Shame the only exciting (as in stand out from the sea of black white and silver cars on our roads) colours the S5 is available in is nav blue and the two reds.

Blimey. I hadn't twigged they were that much now. You could get diff, dynamic dampers and steering for £1500 on a B8, including Drive Select which wasn't standard.

£300 on the old model would have got you electronically controllable suspension. Now all it gets you is brake calipers painted in a different colour!

That's how they keep the base price down these days for a B9. At this rate even heated seats will be extra on the B10.

Thanks JetskiJezz smile I'm not really a fan of privacy glass generally, although I must admit it looks quite nice on the sportback.

After a particularly great weekend and a few rhubarb gin martinis, I've reverted to my 'screw it', only live once, it's only money type attitude now so I'm going for B&O and LIght & Vision pack, with flat bottomed steering wheel to indulge the residual boy racer in me and storage pack for the kids.

I am very excited...

In fairness the B9 comes with a lot more standard kit than the B8 did

It's £3050 altogether, £4k is a bit high but still the same applies to me.
