Ref the alloys I've got an S4 Avant on order and don't really like the standard alloys or the two upgrade options. I was passing by Audi Slough the other day and they had an S4 Avant with the standard Audisport 19 inch wheels off the new RS4 fitted.. Looked great IMHO.. They look a bit weedy on an RS4 but just right on an S4. Not sure if these will be an option soon but would definitely be interested if they are..
I like these wheels, would have them on an RS4 (as opposed to the optional ones) if I was buying one. Not sure I like them any more than the ones that are oprional on the S4 though.

Question is though, surely they cant be the same wheels as the RS4 will have a different offset to account for the arches? My B8 S4 had wheels similar to the B7 RS4 but the offset was different due to the arches on the B7 and that the B8 probably naturally has a wider track.

Yep I wondered that too as I saw that, whilst still 19 inchers, they were slightly wider than the S4 wheels. Maybe they were just on there to look cool in the showroom!

Technically I dont think they are wider, just that the offset will be different. I think RS4/5 run on 255 wide tyres still.

S4 wheels are 8.5J, RS4 are 9J, so the wheels are 0.5" wider. But you're right that the offset is probably different as well.

Standard RS4 tyres are wider too: 265/35 vs 245/35.

The S4/S5 19" wheels are 255/35, even though the spec sometimes says 245 for some reason. Unless the S4 tyres are narrower than the S5 and the B8/8.5 S4. A mate has a B9 A4 Black Edition and they are on 245s

Ah - I was going by the spec/pricelist, which was a bad mistake! The current S4 pricelist shows 19" wheels with 18" tyres. That will never end well!

(My B8.5 S4 has 245/40R18, so 255/35R19 makes perfect sense for the B9's 19" wheels)

Yes and the 19" B8/8.5 were also 255/35 R19

On our S5 orders it always said 245/35 R19s when they came with 255s and the configurator now says 255. In fairness 245 is viable on the S4 given the A5 has a slightly wider body/track than the A4, maybe they are mechanically the same and just fit wider wheels to fill the body better

Hi all...

So, my coupe (delivered march, 6500 miles, zero issues except seat belt feeder)... in the last 2 weeks, its put me in limp mode (limited to 3500 RPM), 3 times...

Got the orange warning signal, and 'start/stop error' message... called audi assist both times, and they arranged to send someone... but after pulling over and leaving it a bit, then restarting, the error disappeared...

Yesterday it happened again, so I waited for the assistance guy to come this time. Real nice bloke from the AA turned up, told me its a known fault and it would need to go back to audi for a couple days.

Just wondered if anyone on here had had the same? I googled it and saw people talking about the window drop problem, but nothing on this one.

So apologies if its already been discussed, ive not been on here for a while. Cheers in advance...
Just me then? Booked in to Audi for later this week, will update when I know more...

Hi, I think I'm going to go for an S5. Was looking at M3/M4 but think they're going to be just a bit more than I want to spend and leasing payments on them are crazy.

There are a few things I really want and a few things that would be nice to have. Interested to know if anyone agrees or disagrees.

Must have
Virtual cockpit

Nice to have
Flat bottomed steering wheel
LED indicators on the front (I believe the rear ones are standard?)
Pano roof

Really don't like the standard wheels and not keen on the optional ones wither. Why didn't that just do a decent black set?

Thanks

If you get the L&V pack, you get matrix lights (amazing tech) and the VC.

flat bottomed wheel is just not necessary, the default wheel is perfect sized and sporty enough!

I think the alloys are great. If you want black alloys then are you like those guys in my town with 2005 plate A4s and smoked glass? biggrin

Pano roof will likely cost around £40-50 a month extra on a two-year lease. I'm pretty sure they give less headroom, so personally I'd want to try one before ordering (I'm well over 6'). Given the compulsory black headlinging I'd expect the make the cabin a lot less cave-like.

Don't get me started on flat bottomed wheels.... smile

I optioned Pano Roof. Glad I did, and sod the cost, as otherwise car interior would be too goth. I'm 6'1" and dont have any headroom issues.

Why LED front indicators? Not as if you are going to see them!

Suspect I could have done without the flat bottom wheel, but it does help long legs getting in and out.

They have LEDs at the front as standard. They don't have the sweeping LEDs at the front as standard (why must you have them at the front?) they come with the matrix headlights in the L&V pack.

Im on my second S5 and the latest one has all the bits your talking about with the first having flat wheel VC (from your list).

The pano roof is great - makes the cabin very airy (blind is always open) and I use it a lot even now. But on a lease it doesnt make sense due to cost.

Flat wheel makes minimal impact to lease cost and is something you look at all the time. We have been brainwashed to now think a flat wheel is more sporty and so I have fell victim to that (quite like the look of them). It also free's up a tiny bit of knee room. Go on the trader and look at interior pics of with and without.

Matrix lights - I barely notice the difference compared to my previous S5 that had standard lights and you cant see the sweeping front indicators 95% of the time anyway. Wouldnt bother.

VC - I went through three phase's with VC. First 30 mins with it ever i was pretty gobsmacked with it. Then once i had flicked through everything and left it in one mode I wondered why I had thought it was so great. But after living with it for a while it really does have the feel good factor and I like the sat nav options it can give especially. Worth the extra even on a lease.

I also have HUD, tour pack, folding mirrors, BnO sound, Extended LED if you want any more info on these.
Colour wise i had Nav Blue now Daytona Grey.

Thanks for all the responses.
I agree about the sweeping indicators on the front, I really like them on the back which are the more important ones.

What are the standard speakers like? I currently have a 2016 BMW 430d Gran Coupe with the M Sport Plus pack which included Harmon Kardon speaker upgrade and they sound great. Just wondering if I go back to standard I'll notice significant difference.

It is a toss up between an S5 Sportback or an S4. I've seen a few new S4s on the road and just find them a bit dated looking on the outside. I need the central seat in the back hence Sportback.

The S4 is a lot better value for money on lease at the moment and you get more choice on wheels and you can get black pack if that's your thing. I think tey are better looking from the front but not elsewhere

I had a 335d GT with M Sport Plus and the HK is quite significantly better than the standard stereo in my S4. BUT I don't care. The car is so much better to drive (and listen to) than the BMW. After having the big straight six diesel I am back in love with petrol, rev range and the sound.

I got a good deal on the S4 and totally happy with it. It's standard with no options (was a cancelled order) and is in Black with the Magma leather. I'd have probably gone for White if it had been my own order, but the black makes the wing mirrors and chrome look decent.

I think this is it, I really really care about audio gear at home (enough that if I sold all my gear it would pay for my S5 lease with change) but in the car its a waste of time as you are in a far less than ideal environment anyway. So I don't bother upgrading the audio in the car as it will never be anywhere near as good as home. Only time I would be is if I spent hours per day in the car so didn't have a lot of chance to listen at home, but then I wouldn't be leasing an S4/S5 if I was doing a lot of miles.

The standard system in the S5 is enjoyable enough to listen to while concentrating on driving. Never turn it up very loud though as I want to hear the car.
