Yeah using the supplied lead. Could be but because of the way its behaving I think its more of a software issue. I think if it was the lead then maybe I would notice issues intermittently or sporadically however this is very regular in its behaviour.

You are right though I shouldn't rule out it being the cable.

On a complete side note I had a Google Maps Update pop up yesterday which was nice to see. Taking ages to download though! Anyone else had one come through?
I had one this week too. Was my second since I got the car. Yes it takes ages but I presume they don't want bandwidth hogging by non essential things like map downloads. It's not the Google download it's the maps themselves for the nav. Google stuff is streamed on the go I believe

Anyone else with a coupe had a problem with the auto window drop/rise? Mine stayed half an inch open today and wouldnt go back up - wondered why road noise seemed high! To the dealers unless anyone has a magic fix

I seem to have the opposite problem (more and more infrequent now) where the glass doesn’t drop when closing door and it gets caught.
Ps is the window still dropped? It’s gonna be very wet dude I assume you have reset the window? smile

I've had some window glitches too. Both dropping too far when door opened and not dropping at all sometimes. Not happened for a while though.

When i am playing music via bluetooth using Spotify the album art 90% of the time no longer displays when it used to display pretty much 100% of the time.

Anyone had this? Any advice on settings for the car or Spotify that might be causing this? Annoying to see the album art on the phone but not on the car screen anymore.

I don't stream over Bluetooth, but I can tell you that Spotify via Android Auto always shows the album art.

The thread has gone quiet - no surprise given we all probably have our cars by now.

On that note, is everyone still enjoying the S5? After a bit of time with the car what are we really enjoying or what dislikes do we have? Anyone had any major problems or issues?

For me some standout positives are;
Engine noise and torque (comparing to my previous Golf R)
Interior especially the seats
Boot size even on my coupe is fantastic - I took some home interior doors to the tip in it
HUD
High beam assist although its not really something that gets used often
Ride is good considering the type of car it is (Sporty Audi)
Feel good factor

In terms of negatives;
Gearbox - hesitancy and sometimes sluggish through the first few gears. S mode also hangs on to the gears far to long in dynamic
More rattles and creaks than my Golf R had with 17,000 miles on it
When on radio the screen doesnt display the song currently being played
On board SIM occasionally not detected so Google Maps doesnt work
B and O sound is not worth the money over the standard system
Lane assist is pants

Yeah, the thread is quiet these days!
No issue with me to speak of so far........
I don't have an issue with the gearbox at all, but that could be my perception or the TDI box fitted.
No rattles or creaks except for stuff moving in the boot.
I agree about the radio, but I'm not to worried about the non track display, although really it should have this as all DAB radios have it, even cheap ones.
On board SIM has never let me down (I use 3 unlimited).
I have the standard sound system which I'm quite happy with, and like you thought the B&O was not worth the cost.
I did not option lane assist so cannot comment. Having said that, I would probably rarely use it.

I have ordered 20 x 10 TSW Bathust wheels in silver & cut face all round which should arrive on Friday, and as I want to give the car a better stance and don't care for the Carvo's much......so we shall see what they are like.

In conclusion, I am more than happy with it, although my next one will probably be an RS6 in a couple of years.

Cant wait to see those rims.
I had lane assist and high beam assist enabled via VDCS and couldnt get on with lane assist so had it turned off.

For me next car all depends on lease deals but if i could pick and money allows id love a new RS4 or a new A7 when it's released. No chance of an RS4 deal but the A7 might kick off with a small batch of decent leases to get some on the road.

To have lane assist, I thought you had to have camera's in the wing mirrors??

By lane assist i mean keeping you between the white lines not cars coming up from behind (just to clarify)

High beam assist? Don't you have matrix anyway in yours? And if you don't it's standard?

Tom I had to go back to my VDCS guy and ask - he did add lane assist but took the coding from my car on high beam assist and added it to his A4 S Line. My error! I should of paid more attention to what he was doing.
Lane assist was just weird - the car correcting the steering would sometimes catch you out and if the lines on the road were faded it could sometimes jolt you unexpectedly to the side. You can have two levels of how much it steps in but even on the lowest setting i couldnt get on with it. On the motorway it was ok but on an A road awful.

I keep checking back on this thread every now and again and have watched the various conversations. My car was delivered in the first week in April, it's a sport back in flat black with red leather with privacy glass and virtual cockpit as the only options.

It's being used as my daily driver and if I'm completely honest I have very little that I can fault with it.
I've now done about 8500 miles, almost all of which has been cross country A roads and B roads, (I live in North Oxfordshire and spend most of my time on the road in the Cotswolds).
My car is permanently in dynamic and the gearbox in "S" and being honest I tend to put on quite a bit while driving - I haven't experienced any concerns or delays with the gearbox.

Disappointments, not many - I wish that I had known that we didn't have cut holes in the back when the car, I don't remember there being an option pack available at the time but for a family car I must admit to being quite disappointed not having any cupholders in the back as standard.
I personally think the car could have better exhaust tone, but that's probably because my other cars are a bit over the top and this S5 is very well insulated. I think it sounds okay outside but I'm always inside inside the car so you only get to hear it if my wife steals it.

If I'm going to pick fault the seatbelt buckle bang against the side of the plastic seat on the driver side is something they could have designed out, but isn't the end of the world.

Would I have another one? - yes I think I probably would although I would prefer the coupe. Problem is the deal is unlikely to be repeated and I don't think I would want to spend an extra hundred pounds a month when it comes time to change.

In conclusion it's been a faultless car so far. I'm loving the Google Maps satellite navigation, surprisingly I do make use of the massage seats and I absolutely love the interior both in terms of quality and design style.

You drive it everywhere in S mode? Doesn't it annoy you sticking in low gears almost all the time? I often drive mine in S mode (for better exhaust) but then shove across to manual so I am in control. It's after you accelerate hard it will leave you at 6000rpm for a while before changing up in S mode.

Agree on the seatbelt knocking that's about the only persistent irritation in the car.

I'm guilty of driving in dynamic S mode everywhere as well...makes it painful on fuel, but hey ho. Have the new 20 x 10 Bathust wheels fitted now, looks sooooo much better IMO, and the Dunlop tyres fitted on them are REALLY quiet (65db) much more so than the Continentals it came with, so all is good. Will post some photo's once I've washed it.

Just an update from myself. I have had the car since march and fuel economy has improved dramatically. Was initially getting 21mpg driving around town. This has now steadily increased to around 27-28mpg. For anyone wondering if it will increase over time the answer is yes smile
