The S5 lease thread
Discussion
Another question for any tyre gurus out there.
My fronts are down to a little over 2mm markers. My rears probably have 4mm left.
Will it affect car if I change just the fronts. I was planning on going for the hankook evo 2 as they get good reviews and there are some great deals out.
Or will I be forced to change all 4 due to quattro system.
Thanks

I think the general consensus is (and across all Audi forums) that as long a you replace a pair (front or rear) for the same make and rating all should be ok, if not then you should change all four.My fronts are down to a little over 2mm markers. My rears probably have 4mm left.

Personal opinion - had these on from new as supplied, and not a huge fan - bit vague on turn in and don't inspire confidence in the wet. Don't get me wrong, not bad by any means.Suspect will go for Goodyear Eagles or Dunlop Sportmaxx or maybe Conti in a few months time. Still undecided.

I had Goodyear Eagle F1s on my previous A5 and they were very good, gripped and wore well.
Yes, they're def my Number 1 choice at the moment - very few people have bad words to say against them. How does everyone get on with the MMI Nav postcode entry using the dial scratch pad? To me it's a real pain. I am right handed and the dial is on the left so some concentration and dexterity is needed whilst on the move, BUT when I type M it always comes up with N the first time, the number 1 ALWAYS comes up with I first, then L, then /, and 5 is always S first. Use voice command and it may as well be in Swahili, so that is totally useless, and the keypad function is a nightmare unless you have stopped.

Draw a "1" by starting with an upstroke. Not just straight down.Draw an "m" as you might have done at primary school. McDonald's arches.
Draw a "5" by drawing the horizontal bar, then the curved part.

I suspect this problem is hugely over-hyped. Has anyone ever heard of an Audi Torsen centre diff failing? As for needing four new tyres due to a puncture...
Oddly enough, I am unsure whether these will be torsen diffs, its hard to find info out on it. When the B8 RS5 came out they brought out their own crown wheel differential to replace the torsen, which was supposed to become the norm but I think they actually phased it out due to issues.

Had this same fault displayed on mine alongside it misfiring twice in the space of 3 weeks at around 8000 miles. Was diagnosed to a fuel pressure regulatory issue and was cured via a software update free from Audi.
Happy to report it hasn't come back since.
I have had the same thing. Sent to dealers they have told me "it is the cold weather"Happy to report it hasn't come back since.
Cant be arsed to argue with them as it isnt too much of a ball ache, any idea what software update it was?

It is a good deal compared with the RRP. Shame they don't do a sportback yet.IJB1959 said:

Indeed. It's still £32K over 4 years, and unlike a lease you'll pay to tax it, and have a lot more servicing costs over that period. Last year has no warrranty and needs MOT, too...It'll be interesting to see what updated broker prices are, with that deposit contribution.
