The S5 lease thread
Discussion
Spoke to Audi today in regards to an ongoing issue I had and thought it was worth asking about extensions etc
I didn't ask for any quotes but I did obtain the below information which may be helpful to others.
You can do the informal 3 month extension and once that reaches its end you can ask for a 6 or 12 month formal quote to extend. I read somewhere else people saying you have to do one or the other but seems that isn't true. You can even do another 6 or 12 month extension at the end of that period. To sum it up we could have this car for 48 months. Personally I wouldn't keep it once the warranty expires but I wasn't aware we could extend it for that long so thought I'd share it with you guys as it may be of use.

Yeah, I wouldnt keep it after the warranty either. But at least the B9 S4/S5 seems a lot more reliable than the B8 S4/S5 gearbox wise. Actually my B8 S4 had loads of issues in the 3 years I had it from new. Might not have sold it if I wasnt worried about having an expensive mend.I didn't ask for any quotes but I did obtain the below information which may be helpful to others.

I've been quite unlucky with mine :-( Had a complete engine failure in May and as a result needed an new engine which took 3 months to fix. Prior to that (6-7 months before) car went into limp mode and it turned out to be the radiator fan. Currently got an Auto SOS failure so its been booked in to fix. Plus ever since the engine failure the steering alignment has been off and its been in 3 times to get it sorted but they just cant get it right for some reason. Apparently when the engine was replaced they also replaced the steering rack so while the alignment machine is showing everything to be spot on I'm thinking the rack itself or another part is slightly out. Fingers crossed they get it right when its next in.
My 2 yr lease on the S5 ends 31st March 2019 so nearly 7 months left. I've 2.5k miles left on the 16k mile total which fits with my reduced mileage over winter. The service indicator on the MMI is saying 5k miles or 207 days until service.
If I hand the car back a month early, at the end of February, the service indicator should still be showing miles and days until service. I know I will have to pay 50% on the remaining 1 month lease but will avoid having to pay for oil change and service so will save overall.
Or is it not as simple as that?

Bit of news on the contract adjustment on the S4 this week ( The S4 thread seems to have died a death and this is a lease thread so I thought it better here.
Going from 20k total to 30k total mileage is costing 12 p per mile.
I had the maintenance package so my excess mileage would have been 25p per mile, a bit of a result I reckon.
How long before you can ask about increasing mileage? I've done 2000 in 6 weeks! Hopefully will drop a bit but reckon i'll be closer to 13/14k a yearGoing from 20k total to 30k total mileage is costing 12 p per mile.

You can ask anytime however bear in mind it is all system generated and worked out as an average. For example lets say you did 20k in 10 months, which is 2k a month, so they would then quote you based on 2k a month going forward (minus your agreed mileage).

That will wear off to some extent. I’d take a view after 9 months to a year. And stick some cash aside every month to cover the excess in the meantime *
* unless you’re earning six figs and the few grand excess could be found lying around in the side pocket of your golf bag.

Yeah if you hand it back before its due you won't have to pay for it.If I hand the car back a month early, at the end of February, the service indicator should still be showing miles and days until service. Hi,
Anyone had following message come up regarding car key?
“Remote control key: please change key battery”
Seems a bit early for message to come up as only had car for year and done 7k Miles.
Spoke to Audi roadside to see if they could replace battery - they suggested I bring the car to dealership. I guess I could replace battery myself or I have a spare key so could always use that instead.

I had this earlier than excepted too but I suppose mileage/age isn't a true reflection.Anyone had following message come up regarding car key?

Got it replaced at the dealers (not necessary) for £5.

Yeah on both keys now not too bad to replace just a little tricky opening key. Can’t recall the button battery code I’m afraid. Anyone had following message come up regarding car key?

Had that on one the the keys about a year in. Gave that key to technician when Audi collected car for a software upgrade. No message since so they seem to changed battery for free I think. Can you get car booked in for another problem? Anyone had following message come up regarding car key?

In regards to tyres does anyone know if the exact same tyres (brand/model) have to be handed back with the car?
I am need of some replacement tyres so shopping around hence the question. I know S5's have been delivered with different tyres so thinking it can't be an issue? Also when handing back my last lease (Golf R) the inspection did not involve checking the brand/model of tyre, only the tread depth.
Just to add - I'm not suggesting we hand it back with budget tyres of course but does it matter if its Continental/Dunlop/Pirelli/Michelin etc

They need to be at least the performance of what was supplied on the car. So the efficiency, noise and wet. And of course be the right size and speed rating.I am need of some replacement tyres so shopping around hence the question. Do you think they would actually check this? I know you came from a Golf R also but can you remember BVRLA carrying out this check? I can't...NSS89 said:
