Halesowen Audi are very accommodating and nice to deal with,

Only issue the test drive left me cold, I wasn't buzzing when I came back, Wife has never seen me so meh about a car before.
Yes its swift but not super fast, virtually no drama and it didn't feel special. I was hoping it would feel like my old S3 but bigger, I found myself getting back in the A6 and liking it more!!
Need another test drive as this cant be rightsilly, any doctors about? I've lost my mind
Hmm, I had a go in a BiT A6 once and thought it was very very front heavy (compared to the B8 S4 I had at the time) and the engine took half a second to react to input.

didn't notice any difference between the 2 cars in terms of the gearbox, but very used to planning for the slight hesitation you get the ZF8 off the line.

Handling wise there's no getting away from the fact the A6 is a heavy thing but proffered the way it felt more planted, crazy I know, maybe its cause I have the Dynamic Steering & Sport diff but not tried one without for a long time.
another test drive could change my mind or cement it.....

It was the engine that I thought almost seemed laggy. You planted your foot and it was like it took a second to spool up the turbos then was very quick when you were going. Nothing to do with gears (as in it wasn't kick down or anything) as I think I was in manual mode. Its about 5 years since I drove it so memory isn't great.

I find that the performance diesels are very different cars to the performance petrol cars. I've driven my sister's Audi A7 biTDI 313BHP a bit and it was an absolute monster. Was the fastest most exciting thing I had ever driven until I got into the S4 (well it was an S5 because the dealer didn't have an S4 but same thing).

I just felt it was in a world of its own. The noise, the pickup, the effortlessness of it all.

Just finished watching David's Steering Saga on youtube.
What was the fix in the end?
Also - you went past the end of our road in the A3!

After a bit of advise. Leasing deals seem to have dried up on the S4 Avant so looking at buying a new one

Went through drive the deal and have 5 dealer offers

Looking at Daytona Grey, red leather, 5 spoke alloys, virtual cockpit and folding mirrors. Best deal £40,500 if I take Audi finance at 3.9%. 16% saving on list

Spec above is what I would go for, for lease. Anything else obvious I should spec ,looking at future resale value?

Winter pack?, black pack?

You mean, apart from the Sports Diff?

Storage pack is pretty cheap but useful. Ditto hill hold assist, apparently - even though it's pretty useless on the B8.5

Don't expect any money you pay for options to affect the resale value much. There's a reason that options on lease cars must usually be 100% paid for during the leasing period...

Cheers yeah sport diff makes sense if I'm owning and not handing back a lease.

Thanks

So decided to pick up the S4 this Friday instead of waiting. Flying down from Edinburgh to Southampton. Thought since I'm saving the dealer delivery over 400 miles that I could get a lift from the dealer from the airport to the dealer to pick the car up. They said no redface

Thought a £40k+ car would get better service from a dealer

Small world! The end of it is it's back up for sale for £39k at Audi (591 miles on the clock) and they're not being clear with people how many owners it had and if it was private etc. A friend of mine called about it and they weren't too forthcoming with answers. They claim to have replaced the whole top of the steering column so I do hope it is fixed.

I've collected my replacement now; my old r32 that I owned between 2011 and 2013. Again, a very small world smile

An update on mine

Will be getting delivered next Monday! Also I enquired about driveaway insurance and they've given me a number to call and they will sort me out with it.

I can't wait for it to turn up! Will post up some photos once it arrives.

I just called and organised the driveaway insurance. You are allowed 3 additional drivers. They don't even care about points or accidents and don't take the details, which was surprising.

The dealer may not be responsible for delivery, I thought the broker sorted that?

Presuming you have a 20k contract, is picking it up yourself really worth 5% of your total time in it? I'd much rather have it delivered and thrash it for 400 miles another time than waste them sat on a motorway.

Hi All,

I've been catching up on this thread as I'm about to pull the trigger on a lease S4 in white no extras as 19s are now standard smile

£423.30 Inc VAT per month 10k miles per year with 6 months deposit! Is this a good deal?

It's through Audi and I don't need to pay the deposit until 14 days after I receive the car which I think is odd. They will put it on long life servicing so should be a reasonably cost effective three years.

I've not driven a demo but I had a B8 S4 s-tronic until a week ago and it ticked all the boxes for the last two years.

I'm also thinking of a tuning box as they seem to not register and leave a trace on the ECU.

Not a good deal no. Im paying less than that with optional 19s, VC, and full maintenance Inc tyres.

Granted, that deal appears to have gone now, but that's over the odds in my opinion...

Freedom have a 9+23 based on 8k for 329.66.

199 admin fee but still cheaper than your quote from Audi...

<cough>2%<cough> (Sorry) smile

I'd be going home the interesting way with a couple of nice hotels/B&Bs thrown in.

Just checked Freedoms current deal versus Audi including VAT

Total monthly payments Freedom £551.14

Total monthly payments Audi £528.75
