Still no news yet on my revised build dates for the S4!
In the meantime however I've now been told I can't have the rear roll up blinds as they're being discontinued on all A4 variants!
Not end of the world as have speccd privacy glass bit still a bit annoying.

With all the delays though and now this I'm a bit torn now whether to stick it out and wait for the S4 which in all reality won't be here until at least end of the year best case or start looking for something else.

Didn't really look at any other makes/models as had the S4 in mind for a while so haven't got an immediate fall back.

I know the S4 will be amazing if I hold out but it's a long time to wait especially when was originally expecting it in Oct.

What other cars did people consider before opting for the S4? - need something comparable in size as have a couple of kids, and ideally with decent performance wink
Have you looked at a BMW 340i Grand Coupe?

Ah yes I am presuming leasing which I shouldn't (these S5/S4 threads all seem to blend into one). C43s are rubbish on a lease but if buying it would probably be first on my list (after the Audi).

I just looked. yikes Almost twice the monthly compared to an S4, even with the current deals.

Yes exactly! I'm sure they are competitive on retail but leasing is a joke! Reading reviews of the cars saying the Merc is better its like "yeah but at what cost!"

C43 4matic Auto over 3 Years, 3 months rental deposit £1574.85, = £524.95 plus VAT (Base spec).
C63 Auto over 3 years, 3 months rental deposit £2005.89, = £668.63 plus VAT (Base spec).

I opted not for the S4 (which they were trying to flog me) but instead got a fully loaded 3.0Tdi quattro. 0-60 in 5.5 or thereabouts is fast enough for me and the clincher is a consistent 40+mpg. But it is a diesel.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations - will take a look into those models some more. I'm on a pcp deal with the S4, but could also consider leasing. I did look ok at the 340i touring and also a 530 touring - 340 seemed a bit small in the back/boot - really need a tourer/avant for the space with the kids...

I've actually just had a call this afternoon from my dealer to say they've got my build week forward by 5 weeks and are trying to improve on it further so I'm not going to make any rash decisions just yet as heart is still with the S4... if I can get it Nov/Dec that would be ok..,

Out of interest, what's the figures on the PCP you have gone for?

Interested to compare with my lease, as when I was looking, PCP was far more expensive...

Realised that the 10k per annum isn't going to suffice.

I know with the old 6p + VAT a lot of people got half price for additional miles. Has anyone tried it with an S4/S5 lease?

So that would be the 12.98p + VAT so talking about ~£750 for 10k miles and a £60 admin fee.

I must admit, I didn't really look at a leasing option, have always gone pcp - it certainly isn't as good as some of the crazy deals people earlier in the thread were talking about but was the best pcp deal I could find from different dealers / brokers...

Over the term my S4 Avant works out at just over £6k per year based on 12k annual mileage and with just over £2k of options added.

Base car would have been around £5.7k per year.

So about 1500 quid more over 2 years then, but I'm guessing your PCP is on a 3 year term?

Suppose if you have any intention of keeping it at the end, the option is there for you...

Yep, expected the lease deal to come in a bit less to be honest. PCP works for me at the moment - good to have the option to buy at the end if want to, but also can get out / change deal earlier if want/need to.

Picking up car on 18th of this month. No cost option black with grey interior and Virtual cockpit. Supplying dealer is in Milton Keynes. They wanted to charge 500 pounds to deliver to Edinburgh. I said no I will pick up from dealership. Not allowed to pick it up from dealership as they won't be able to insure it?????????? So now its being driven to Carlisle with a four hour arrival window. Really odd and poor service.

This is a private lease by the way. Any one else have similar problems?

Just got a couple of questions for those that already have your S4's / had them for a while...

Now your cars are broken in a bit how are you finding the long term MPG? I've heard people say it improves as the car beds in...
Not expecting high mpg to be honest given the car but just interested to know how things are looking after putting in some miles on the car...

Any recommendations for iPad cradles/straps that fit ok to the super sports seats?

Yes, super sports seats are a pain for kids in the rear with iPad/DVD. I would be interested if anyone has found a solution as well.

I'm up in Edinburgh as well and flew down to Southampton to pick my s4 up.

You should be able to get 5 days drive away insurance for the car so I don't quite understand the issue with insurance?

https://insurewithaudi.co.uk/5-day-policy-booklet/

I was keen that I wouldn't be the first person driving my car any sort of distance so flew down at my expense. But they would have driven it to Edinburgh for free otherwise. I did get a full tank of fuel 'free' though.

Surely that mileage would have impacted your allowance?
