I think in this case it's only finance GAP that's the option. You cover difference between settlement from insurance company and amount owed to VWFS, in case there's a shortfall. You're not owner or keeper so I don't think RTI or replacement GAP applies here.

The quotation that was sent with my finance agreement states:

£10k cover only applicable for cars priced between £0 and £37500 = £199
£15k cover only applicable for cars priced between £37501 and £75000 =£299

6 months into the GTi lease and i have the following comments to make,

I increased my mileage to 10k per year, cost £300 plus £60 contract change fee so £360 all in for an additional 10k miles.

I find the car a bit thirsty, prob my fault for choosing the DSG, the slow engagement of reverse and drive is also annoying. However, it is a wonderful place to sit, very ergonomic, the ACC is really good. Yesterday I went to London from Sheffield, stopped on the M1 for 2 hours due to an accident, had a closed M4 on the way home, then the M1 closed again for a junction. Total driving time was 9 hours. Felt as good at the end as I did at the start, apart from being pretty tired.

Really is a great car.

Do I see from your Garage that you came from an M135i?

Wife fell in love with the mk7.5 GTi and ordered one without driving it (it's due August). She's had BMWs for years (her last two were M135i's) and I'm concerned she'll be a little underwhelmed when it finally arrives. I drove a 7.5 recently at Milbrook and liked it, but much preferred her M135i (nothing drastic, just the 6cyl engine and interior made it feel more special than the Golf).

Any reservations about the Golf, or things you prefer over the M135i?

Anyone else have any feedback on the colours and how the DSG behaves?
Just re-read through the thread as I am hoping to get a 5dr DSG in Rubin Black

Thanks

Haven't seen Rubin Blsck in real life yet but some of the pictures look terrible. Really purple in normal light which makes upgrading to a metallic colour the easiest choice for me. I have just got my order number for my GTi DSG and currently going Indium Grey.

It's dark, dark purple. And in my view, better a better colour than either the red or white options I was presented with when I took the deal

Glad you like it. Personally, having seen the pic, I'm glad I got the white

Quite like the Rubin Black but I preferred the white out of the 3 solid colours, so that's the one I went for smile

Yes indeed....

Ok, the Golf is a better 'car'.
The M135i is a better 'sidekick'.

GTi is slower naturally, auto gearbox slower to engage etc, handles ok etc but the standard spec is better and its probably more comfortable.

The M135i used a bit more fuel but just felt more 'special'. My wife prefers the Golf but misses the M135, it's a special car.

Interesting. I find the seats of the m135 more comfortable but the ride probably is not as good over the harsh roads.

Thanks for that. I guess we'll be heading back to Sytner Sheffield if she doesn't like it! biggrin

Did anyone else get this email from CVLUK ?
......Volkswagen’s policy is that they will provide a support vehicle from 16 weeks when the order has been placed.......

wonder if they give me some ££ towards my 13k mileage overage on my current golf?

I emailed VW via their website asking if they could either ignore the 6k excess mileage on my current octavia or end the lease 2 months early at no extra charge as a gesture of goodwill. They replied saying I need to speak to VWfinancial services as they do not have access to any financial information.

My car is now in the country and will be getting delivered in the next few weeks. Can't wait to swap the manual courtesy car for the DSG!

What is everyone doing regarding service plans for the two years? I should do 10k per annum, maybe slightly more. Is it worth setting up a plan or playing one off service costs? If anyone has any quotes for their respective cars that would be greatly appreciated.

assuming you only need one service it will be easy for you to compare the costs plan v's paying on the day.
I would say pay on the day.

To drive, it feels splendid! Bearing in mind what I've been used to for the last 5 years. I'm not sure if this will come across as a compliment but it can be driven through the gears like my previous mk5 TDI just riding the torque wave. I've not had a chance to push on as yet, but you can sense the urgency when exercising your right foot on slip roads etc.

Interior is quite overwhelming, the infotainment system is vast, and too many buttons on the wheel. It'll take 2 years just to get to grips with it.

Exterior: I like the wheels much more than i expected, photos do not do them justice. Paint, I'm still not fussed on the colour although I think this is mostly down to the fact its definitely not black!!! Also I keep noticing how big the exhausts are!

Catch up soon!
