I hope I'm not accused of being xenophobic or racialist but it's St George's Day today chaps. This has mainly been ignored by the mainstream press. I wonder why? I'll say it again it's fecking St Georges Day today and I'm proud to be British English.
FTFY He's the patron saint of England, not Britain.Henry V said:
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot;
Follow your spirit: and upon this charge,
Cry — God for Harry! England and Saint George!

Take your pick, not exactly failthful, Georgy boy.
They do it much better in Catalonia. La Diada de St Jordi - big thing in Barcelona; it is the Catalan equivalent of Valentine's day.
I think the main reason it is 'ignored' by the 'MSM' is that there is nothing to report on. No one does anything for it, it is a non-event so what is there to report?

If you know that you are a member of a superior race of people, then, quite frankly, you don't need to boast about it.The Mad Monk said:

Sadiq Khan is the Mayor of London, not Lord Mayor
This is the important detail to remember from today's commemorations, yes. Thank you for ensuring St George's Day passes with such crucial errors being corrected. It's what the good saint would have wanted. In fact, I think he slayed the dragon just so Mayoral titles can be correctly attributed. Cold said:

I actually don't think that the distinction between Mayor and Lord Mayor is a result of St. George's Day, as surprising as it may seem.I'm not religious and therefore place literally no stock in canonization and I don't believe at all that St George killed a dragon. However I am sure that Mayor and Lord Mayor are significantly different things.
