I'm not sure if I'm alone but I have a seriously bad luck with computer mouses, they just don't last more than 1-6months for me, every single mouse in last 4-5years I have bought has given up ghost or has started to have seizures/problems/uncontrollable clicking/double clicking etc.
Yet another Acer mouse has started doing the double/triple clicking thing and yet again I need to purchase a new one just because They simply don't work...

Anyone can suggest something decent? I'm a simple man so a wired one will do, don't need some super-duper gamer mouses as well, just a regular mouse that works and that hasn't got a loud click.

I am using a cheapo Texet mouse - from Wilkos (I think).
Had this one for well over a year and it works fine.

I've used a Apple Magic Mouse for a long time now and it's been great! Must have been at least 5 years. Still use the same one. Would buy another.

I believe you can use it with a PC also.

My other half uses a 'silent click' mouse which has survived many months of abuse. The switches are 'different' to the normal mouse.

Can't go wrong with Microsoft or Logitech, both very reliable.

Those Microsoft ones are good, but I Like the Logitech, and particularly this one http://www.logitech.com/en-au/product/marathon-mou...

3 year battery life and nice to hold, and the small buttons on the side for forward and back is handy on forums and surfing. If you don't want to spend though, the Microsoft should be all you need.

Are you using it with a laptop and frequently throwing it in a bag? I've found that helps to kill the buttons quickly...

I prefer a decent Microsoft mouse now, having had a couple of failures on Logitechs. I also don't buy the cheapest model - I think mine retailed around £30 but I've picked a couple up on ebay for £12.

Edited to add: When I was having trouble before, I used this little program to reduce the frustration until I bought a new mouse... http://www.experienceit.pl/download

I had the 5 button one of these, and it is fantastic. Might start using it again.

I'm using the same model with a button on both sides of the main buttons for forward and back browsing. The wheel can be press to open new tabs or scroll.

This, cheap wired 3 button optical mouse.

Just don't have sharp bends in the wire.

I love my logitech MX, used daily for probably 4 years now and still going strong. Expensive but worth it if only for the frictionless scroll wheel.

It's a cheapy but I picked up a Motospeed V30 Wired mouse from gearbest for about £15 which has been going strong for some time now, my first wired mouse in a while (Got fed up with changing batteries) quality seems excellent if i'm honest.

Ah just re-read. Maybe not best for you, it's a bit clicky

Don't waste money on MS Arc Touch surface mouse. Great when it works but every time the screen blanks the fecking thing goes to sleep and won't wake up without removing BT adaptor. irked

Cautious of typing this as I know PH can often be a little "you're wrong" to every thread but I don't think I've ever had a mouse break since the days of physical ball mice where the rollers would get all furred up.

A £10 Microsoft of Logitech should be absolutely fine, if you're breaking them every few months I'd be looking at what you're doing with them as that's just not a common issue.

I had the predecessor to that (the MX Revolution) and it's one of the best mice I've ever used. I think I bought mine in 2007. I looked at the MX Performance but it lacked the thumb scroll wheel which was one of the things I liked most about the MX Revolution.

The thumb scroll was reintroduced on the MX Master which was launched a couple of years back and I bought one of those in the launch colour:

I've been using that since and can't fault it. When my cordless desktop at work started to look grim I replaced it with a Microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard (which my wrists and hands have thanked me for!) and a new MX Master in blue:

They're not cheap but much like a car, I don't mind spending money on the bits I have to touch/interact with all day....

Speaking of things lasting, I've been using a Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard for what must be at least a decade and have only just retired that because I managed to damage it slightly. Sadly Logitech stopped making these several years ago so it's been replaced by.....another diNovo Edge which I bought a couple of years ago specifically for this purpose! One of the best keyboards I've ever used and I hope to get a decade out of the new one as well.
