Topped up my 2009 A4 this week as MMi said it needed some. Added half a litre, it asked for more, added another half litre, drove for a bit, added more. Turns out the micro switch on the bonnet catch was stuck so didn't recognise bonnet was open. This meant mmi didn't think I'd opened bonnet to put oil in so wasn't resetting gauge. I've put 2 1/2 litres in before realising. There's warning everywhere saying not to overfill engine.

I've drained a litre out and oil level is at max. If it was overfull, would MMi tell me to drain some? Do I need to let some more out until it drops down gauge a bit.

Audi are a right set of bds, why not provide a dipstick?

Yes it would (I think)

You can buy the "workshop" dipstick if you want one for home use.

You'll need to ask the dealer for your specific settings as its a adjustable one for all cars
