Buying advice for Audi A5
Discussion
Morning all,
My daughter is thinking of buying a used Audi A5.
Details are A5 TFSI S-Line, 2014 registration
Black edition 2 door 1.8 petrol with auto 'box
53k miles at £18k.
The bodywork looks fine and the interior is well looked after
but, as I have never owned anything VAG, I am reliant on guys like yourselves
to point out any weak areas or other things I should be looking for.
I would appreciate your comments and help. Thanks.

There have been a few A5 threads asking similar but probably not in the last few weeks.
By that age they're generally pretty good.
The 1.8T has its naysayers but I think performance and economy from it are actually pretty good. I don't even mind the super-smooth multitronic gearbox (suits my driving style generally).
That engine uses a timing chain and is pretty well screwed together.
The gearbox by that point was also reliable but still requires 40k mile oil changes.
Black Edition got a few bits as standard but I personally would want nav+ and heated seats on top as a minimum.
At that age and mileage the A5 as a model suffers very few quality/durability issues although the front splitters are usually marked (lowest and furthest forward point of the car) and driver's outside bolster tends to show some wear.
