So my Q7 has a failed rear bulb carrier in the upper light section - quite a common issue seemingly and wondered if anyone knew if they were common across any other audi/vag vehicles as they're all coming in at c.£55 at the moment for about 12inches of cable and a couple of connectors

I believe the part # is 4L0945221B

Just searched in Etka and it seems it's unique to the Q7 2007-09 models. £30.71 is the RRP so with some TPS discount it doesn't seem that excessively pricey considering you have barge tax?

If you're looking on ebay I well imagine all of the prices will be inflated.

As Adrian suggests just call your nearest branch of TPS.

I would check your rear wash wipe motor as its often the source of the water causing this issue.

Just replaced the wiper motor actually as it had totally seized

Ebay is about £55ish delivered, spoke to local breakers who want between £70-90 which is ludicrous

Spoke with Stoke Audi who I've used for parts before who quoted the £30 which is much more reasonable!

Nuts, isn't it?! TPS usually cheaper than Stoke audi (unless they're local to you!) although they're allegedly 'trade only' they really aren't

They've got sales targets just like anyone else; be mad to turn business down.

Those of a nervous disposition should not ask the price of a door mirror!

I priced up replacing my mirrors for the Sq7 variant mirrors and was surprised at the costs ... having previously bought a replacement TTRS mirror I was surprised at being surprised! Haha

Cheers all ... popped into TPS today, £28 and had a few in stock so no waiting around - job jobbed and even cheaper than from Audi. smile

15mins later and all fitted and sorted

What was the symptoms of this as I have just had rear left light and brake light fail at the same time? . The rear left light is made up of 2 lights and the outside one is still working but the inside one isn't. I'm assuming there are 2 separate bulbs rather than a dual filament one?

Yes it’s the inner ones.

However it transpires my problem was not the bulb holder loom at all - as the same problem re-emerged 48hrs later ... transpires it’s actually the bulbs that’s the issue

All MDCs (incl ECP/GSF/Indy/Halfords) sell P21w bulbs as expected but most are actually a sub-variant which retailers either don’t know or don’t care about. Bosch, Neolux, etc... are all the latter ‘other’ type!

P21w are split into 2 types, 7506 and 1156 - visually identical but actually different - nowhere seems to take account of this, I only found out via a US Audi Q7 owners club.

So I have now replaced the offending bulb with an Osram P21W ultra life 7506 and it immediately cured the issue - so I would try this first as they’re only £4 a pair from ECP
