The configurator had said tri-zone climate, but it is only vents in the back with no temperature control.

I queried this with VW when I got my car - I had to order mine without being able to look at a car, as they had only just gone on sale. The brochure illustrated controls in the rear for temperature, but there was nothing there when I got mine.Jonesy
VW said that the brochure is a guide only, and that the rear temperature can be set seperately to the front by the driver - which is true, but feels like it's missing the point of tri-zone climate.

Thanks, Gareth. Makes sense and I understand what they are saying about the brochure. Not something I’m overly fussed about, just thought I’d point it out. I guess I have repeated what was said earlier in the thread...you’d think an online configurator could show the correct spec and be country/market specific..

This peeved me a bit too. I had seen the pictures of the controls in the brochure and listed as tri-zone in the spec. Like you say it can be amended from the front screen but a bit of a pain. Kids use the control all the time in my S4...
I should be more grateful though my soon to be A6 doesn’t have any control for the rear... first world problems eh...

3rd March for my R Line just realised my last night at work in my current car is tonight, have a week off then back to work in the new wheels on the 5th
I'm getting my R Line the same day and I'm back to work on the 5th too.. Spooky!! Well mine finally arrived a few days ago (Arteon SE 2.0 petrol (190PS) DSG) and very pleasantly surprised by it. For a 'base' model it really looks great and I love the dark coloured 18" wheels of the SE against the white paintwork. Cabin was basically what I expected - although the single colour MFD between the 'old school' dash clocks is a bit bland/disappointing, coming after the Audi A4 one (that was not the 'active info' type, it had real 'clocks' too but the screen between them was multi-colour) - anyway I will get used to it and it has all the info you need.
Sadly no LED internal lighting features apart from the nice LED overhead map lights and footwell lights but it does have an extra touch - the normal red/clear reflectors in the front door bases are actually wired and work on the Arteon (it was always a mod on the Golf to get them working so maybe this is Passat derived) - so there is lots of external light combined with the door mirror puddle lights.
Not sure if the door mirrors can be programmed to only unfold only when the car is started (a la Audi) - its a bit pointless for them to constantly move every time you unlock the car to get something.
Groans/moans - I had to laugh at the 'cost-cutter' second key, just black plastic devoid of the metal trim/badge - not very subtle VW! And the other one is the filament bulbs for the front indicators - whats going on here? These are LED headlights with LED DRL's and tail lights so it looks like someone forgot about the front indicators.
Back to the positives - the boot is, as expected, cavernous and the folding bag hooks and two lights are a nice bonus. Internal fittings are, as others have said, rather dour and 'VW' but thats OK with me (the LED lighting on the higher models must improve it at night though) and the general fit and finish looks pretty reasonable. I need to get used to the slightly different way some controls such as ACC work compared to Audi which retained a separate stalk for cruise functions. Also there are a few changes from the Golf Mk.7 where you could increase/decrease the speed increments on the steering wheel rocker switch by 1mph by a normal press or by 5mph by pressing down further. On the Arteon the rocker only does 5mph increments and you need to use the SET and RES buttons for 1mph increments - bit of a backward move there VW.
On the road the car does not seem significantly larger than the A4 but I think coming straight from a Golf size car its size would be much more noticeable. The Arteon seems to encourage a gentle driving style (and also the fact that the car is brand new) - this certainly yields impressive mpg - 47 on my first trip and just over 53 on the way back - this is better than the Audi usually managed with its 1.4 (150PS) engine so a nice surprise considering the Arteon is heavier and has a more powerful engine - anyway certainly not complaining!
Will see how I get on over the next week - my journeys are usually either two miles to the supermarket or 60 miles across country for work trips - the Arteon seems to be very suitable for the latter (outside of rush hour).

Nice report, Mark. I agree with the points you’ve made. Mine ticked over 2000 miles today and is still wafting me to and from work very nicely. It’s a completely different driving experience to the Scirocco it has replaced and I’m quite enjoying the less frenetic and more relaxed cruising ability of it. I think I’m averaging about 43mpg over the 2k miles, which I think is pretty good for such a heavy car. Worst I’ve seen was 28mpg with some judicial use of the right foot.

Car looks beautiful - I guess the only question is why didn't you wait a week for the '20' plate?

I didn't want to lose out on the deals that were on at the time. Got this Arteon for 246/month for 3 years, 12 months in advance and 10000 miles.
