My Q7 has suffered a common problem, sunroof drains have become blocked allowing water into the boot, this has caused the MMI unit to fail. It's with a local Audi dealer but, so far, they seem unable to diagnose what's wrong with it. Does anyone know of an Audi/VAG MMI specialist in the South-East?

Thanks for that Dr G. Audi dealer still working on it, but may well give them a call if I get no joy or repair cost brings me to tears

When buying my Audi, I had my a service and a PPI by QT Tuning in Haywards Heath.

I had a chat with their manager in the process and they seemed pretty switched on.

That'll be Kim Collins, and yes, QS tuning is well regarded. They've been around for longer than all but a couple of the main dealers.

If you specifically want someone to look at an MMI fault I'd still stick my hand up for Hazzydayz. They will (wherever physically possible) repair the fault rather than simply replace modules/parts. They can do a lot that even the main dealers cannot.

Not sure why this is difficult to sort.

Water gets into the plug and shorts the amp/processor unit. Requires a new one. Its hardly the most uncommon fault as you say.

Dealers (tbf ANY brand dealers) inevitably don't have the specialist knowledge to strip and replace individual components in one.

Are you (they ) sure it's not a separate issue and not related to the water ingress? MOST network fault perhaps?

I've used Kim previously for S2 and RS4 and I'd certainly rate him. Although it's not his field of expertise, I'm sure he'll have a contact he outsource that kind of thing to. At the moment I'm still pursuing it with Audi. I'd love to get it up to HazzyDayz but it means a 3.5hr round trip that I can only make at weekends so I'd need to arrange a replacement car for a week; it may still happen but I think I'll exhaust the other options first.

Ended up taking the car to HazzyDayz and can't praise them highly enough. My "main stealer" had estimated £5k+ for the repair and indicated that further work might still be required but they wouldn't know until they'd done the first £5k. TBH, it wasn't so much the cost I was worried about, given they'd already tried twice to repair the MMI system without success, I'd lost all confidence in their ability to fix it and certainly wasn't prepared to pay that sort of money for a "third time lucky" guess. It turned out that most of the parts the dealer said needed replacing were fine, they also spent as much time not fixing it as HazzyDayz spent getting everything working. Whole job came in at a fraction of the main agents estimate, well worth the 3.5hr round trip, well done guys.
