Nothing too worrying on the MOT history

I think a good look at the paintwork is needed to work out what has been done and why as it clearly needs to be redone.

Ah, found it. Hard to tell from the pics, and the condition reports arent as good as Manheim ones. Obvious question on the paintwork repairs - 9 services though.

OP, appreciate it depends on your budget, but there are quite a few cars at £30-32k with good history and significantly lower mileage. It would need to be a fair bit lower than that to take the risk. If you can find out where it was traded in, it might be worth contacting the local AM dealer if you havent already,

It has been out of the main dealer network since 2014 apparently.

It should be about £25k + fees

In retrospect probably not worth it, looked ok but just OK.

Separate question but How seasonal is the Aston market ? Especially regarding pricing ?

Yep, I reckon you’d do better to haggle hard on the £30-32k cars to be honest; you might pay £29k instead of £26k but you’ll have a lower mileage car and better opportunity to check over - you’ll get the difference back on resale.

In terms of seasonality, the prices dip in the Autumn but only to a point - thereafter the market just seems to slow with cars sticking around for longer.

No, I didn't bother reserve £24.5 + Fees c. £450 + Service + other £1k means its probably £27k all in undriven.

So basically I can probably get one privately for that with a better history

It’s likely that you’d be buying problems or impending maintenance costs at £27k in a private sale; a couple of extra £k to £29k is still right at the very bottom of the market but would at least give you a fighting chance!

There’s a dealer sale on Autotrader which seems remarkably cheap for a 2007 car with recent A.M. service for £30k. Advert states 16 services which is presumably a typo for a 10yr old car.

Yup its on eBay at a company I have used a few times in the past: Carswithnoreservereading. Interesting lt: they specialise in high mileage non perfect Blackbushe bargains. I had an RS4 from them that on the face of it was cheap but when I had rectified all of the small niggles it need up being pretty costly.
So I guess its a buyer beware situation: it may end up being cheap on the Ebay auction: they say they sell at any price but I think they have a few hidden bidders to keep the prices up; if it owes them say £26K they will want to make a few grand on the sale so I guess you are better off buying privately at say £28K ?
