Does anyone know if the £36 per wheel over 50mm of damage also apply to the diamond cut Black Edition alloys on my A4? Or will it be more?
I'm pretty sure they don't differentiate.

Well, that's good news - Thanks!

Yep I believe once you go over the wear and tear limit for alloy damage its £36 regardless, as long as the alloy is still intact!

BCA picked up our old GTD on the 5th March, BCA report received and they noted some points which I did not contest apart from the missing service book which was in the glovebox. Since then I've heard nothing back from BCA or VWFS, also had some extra mileage to pay for as lease was terminated a few weeks early and I was over that allocation.

How long should I anticipate a bill coming from them? I wouldn't contest it but they aren't asking for anything from me yet.

My company GTD is nearing the end of its lease.
The Front assist for the AAC is currently inoperable .
It’s not covered by the warranty , car is over 60k miles and it’s more than likely due to the wheel
Alignment going out when I clobbered a pot hole. Alignment now fixed and has new tyres but apparently VW want £300 to recalibrate. The sensor.
I’ve found a local car electrical/diagnostics place that will do it for half that.
Worth doing or will VWFS charge for it being inoperable?

As that front assist radar is like the daddy feature of the Golf and costly to replace, if it needs re-calibrating or needs error codes wiping from the OBD diagnostic port, I would go to a repuatable or trustworthy local garage and ask them to see if you could see the errors, restart the car and see what errors come up and compare.

Alternatively if you have an android device, you can do your own diagnostics with an OBDELEVEN tool. I have one and its probably the best thing i’ve ever bought for my car. Costs around £50 I believe for the pro version which allows coding of the car i.e. alternate indicators, change display etc

Recalibrating wise, i’m sure an independant dealer can do it for you at a fraction of the cost and VW will be none the wiser. Just would need to clear all errors from diagnostics after its done.

Just had my second Golf R collected by BCA on behalf of VWFS, and yet again, found them very fair. I think a large part is down to the inspector you get on the day. Our guy turned up at 7am, despite it meant to be 8.30 onwards, so he was apologetic and I gave him the “best take it easy on us” chat.

He did, as there were a few bits outside the tolerances, both internally and externally, but he marked them as being within.

3 of the 4 wheels had large scuffs, over the 50mm, so we were charged £36 each for them.

Very satisfied with that, as it’s always quite nervy!

Had the A6 collected an hour or so ago... inspection lasted just over 20 mins and the guy was decent. His time was spent mostly taking photos and videos of the car for VWFS on a tablet then the same process again on a mobile phone for BCA's records. I wanted to make the car the best one he'd pick up all month and he thanked me for making his job so easy :-)

Note to VWFS for the tablet software... even if there are no charges, you cannot see when signing that there are no charges. There is the option to write a note confirming I'd been told no charges, which I did, but once you confirm the note, you cannot see that it's there when signing.

Otherwise, nice and easy! Someone will have themselves a tidy 2.0tdi BE quattro!

What about the interior, do they look at things like the trim, seats, sat nav (I have sat nav sd card but corrupt, stupid VW nav update)?

Do they get inside to have a look or is it the outside they really care about? Very curious.

Yes the interior was checked over but no more really than moving an iPad inside the back door whilst in video mode. To blow my own trumpet though, you could tell in one glance how tidy my car was... I treated it as if it was my own... including having it detailed a couple of months after getting it, and had it washed the evening before collection.

Yes, nav SD card is checked for... it's mentioned both on their on-screen checklist and your BCA paperwork but my guy didn't start playing with the nav to see that the SD card was legit.

Edited to add.... the bloke's trade plates and phone went straight on the bonnet as soon as he approached the car! I started twitching :-)

I tried being clever and update my sat nav sd card at home as VW don’t do updates at dealerships anymore (they said do it at home).

The SD card is there though in SD slot 1 or 2, can’t remember. Do they physically look where SD card is or do they load the Nav on the infotainment and check that way? That is literally my only concern as its £300 according to the VW Charge Matrix.

My Golf GTI is due to be returned in 40 days time and the i have a 'service due' inidcator on even though i'm only at 15000 miles and the car being registered on 30/06/2017 months ago. Why is the service due indicator on so early?

Really want to avoid a 300 odd quid service before handing the car back.

Oil change? There's no rule it will be exactly two years, it will change depending on your driving.

It just says maintenance needed. It had an oil change about 6 months ago.

Managed to reset the indicator anyway now.

Also a question on VW servicing. The website says you have the choice of fixed service of flexible servicing. Fixed is every 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first and flexible is 18,000 or 24 months.

Given this could you get away either not servicing at all during the 24 months lease as long as you are under 18000 miles or, at most, just once at any time during the 24 months.

Yes, you can avoid service if you do less miles and return car a bit earlier before time limit of 2 years comes. But oil change service will depend on your driving. I always get to the highest limit of around 18-19K miles on Audi, as I don't do short trips. But on the other hand, I get to higher miles well before 2 years mark, as I drive a bit more than my planned annual mileage.

Leon Cupra through Seat FS but question should still be valid....

What sort of timescales are you looking at when you want the car inspected and collected?
ie book it and it's generally within a week, 2 weeks, longer.....also can you specify a time slot or even am/pm or is it just 'sometime on the date'?

If BCA, you’ll specify an inspection and collection date online (within six days of each other, as I remember) then they’ll call you the day before with an expected time of arrival

In my experience, although with my previous C class Merc, the guy from BCA was very upfront with me. Few marks on the car here and there but I'd had it velated. Wheels did need a refurb and there was a couple of small dents ... probs half the size of a 20p and he said there would be nothing to pay.

They are really looking for signs of abuse and clocking, based on wear and tear. He was telling me about people from certain parts of West Yorkshire who were notorious for getting 6k a year contracts and running the cars as taxi's, racking up 40k a year and clocking the cars. Also a mobility customer who only put 300 miles on their car in 2 years but allowed their dogs to live in the car (actually live in the car ... stting and eating plus destroying and chewing the dashboard). So I would hope anyone on PH doesn't fit into the above categories. :-)

In past, I just called VWFS, who was then sending request to BCA and they were supposed to contact me but in all cases I called them myself. I would start the process 2 weeks before, so there's no problem with availability, etc.
