VWFS - attitude at end of lease?

Leon Cupra through Seat FS but question should still be valid....
What sort of timescales are you looking at when you want the car inspected and collected?
ie book it and it's generally within a week, 2 weeks, longer.....also can you specify a time slot or even am/pm or is it just 'sometime on the date'?
To give you another guide, I got the early termination figure from VWFS on a Monday, and inc. paying off VWFS two days' later and getting the appointment for the following Thurs it was eight days from getting out of the contract to waving off the car. What sort of timescales are you looking at when you want the car inspected and collected?

I’ve just settled 2 month early with VWFS so will be ringing up in a couple of days to book a collection. Inspection and collection on same day now.
I had my my car inspected couple of weeks ago by BCA and seemed to have had a different experience to others. She spent quite some time going over things and couldn't believe how clean the car was after three years, no kerb damage or scratches anywhere. She did note one stone chip on the front bumper and RH sill and put a charge down for them which I didn't agree with on the form I signed as I couldn't see anything on the sill apart from a bit of dried dirt and maybe some tar and the stone chip on the bumper was 1mm. She stated that I wouldn't be charged for anything below £500. Anyway she went on here merry saying I would get the report via email which never turned up.
Fast forward to this weekend and I get a bill from VWFS for £130 for RH Sill and refinishing LH door which she never showed me. I finally managed to get the report today and it doesn't show anything on the pictures apart from a tar spot and rather comically her trainers which if not for the first photo could be mistaken for some sort of paint mark. Another quick call to VWFS and all charges waived. My advice would be to take detailed pictures on the day of pick up as it seems like the inspectors will try to charge for things that aren't stone chips or things well below BVRLA acceptable standards. I have to say this has put me of leasing through VWFS again..

Oil change? There's no rule it will be exactly two years, it will change depending on your driving.
It just says maintenance needed. It had an oil change about 6 months ago. Also a question on VW servicing. The website says you have the choice of fixed service of flexible servicing. Fixed is every 10,000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first and flexible is 18,000 or 24 months.
Given this could you get away either not servicing at all during the 24 months lease as long as you are under 18000 miles or, at most, just once at any time during the 24 months.
Question for you all, if the alert is on but equally I still have mileage outstanding when they collect, is that acceptable? Ideally I do not want to be paying for the service in the next three weeks!

Allegedly you can reset the service warning fairly easily.Question for you all, if the alert is on but equally I still have mileage outstanding when they collect, is that acceptable? Ideally I do not want to be paying for the service in the next three weeks!
BCA have just collected my 67-plate Golf R estate. Have to say, the inspection seemed to be far more thorough than I've experienced in the past. Nothing was recorded, but in fairness the car was absolutely spotless. My car was sent back three months early, so the 55% settlement was paid to VWFS, and I'm expecting a charge for circa 400 miles of excess miles.
I had Manheim collect my old Passat, they took ages going over the car, documented things you wouldn't notice as they went up and down the sides of the car with a reflective card looking for door dings. Document they produced said everything was ok / covered but as it's a company car I dont get the bill / wasnt told of any issues.

But Manheim is not VWFS, is it? And they are known as the worst company in this business and like to find faults and generate charges.PenelopaPitstop said:

When I say the morning after, I mean the early hours (0120).
Someone's been a naughty boy! Although in my opinion BCA themselves are more the culprits for allowing a freshly collected car to be out on the road like that. I asked the bloke where he was taking the car to and he said it was going to Guildford (from S London). Emailed BCA to say please sort and update me as I won't take kindly to receiving any more letters from Lambeth.
Interesting when concerning a rented car that Lambeth's "notice to owner" came to me (DVLA records?) and not via VWFS. Have had an acknowledgement of my email from BCA. If anyone's curious, I'll update!

Yeah that is very odd, as the car should've been registered in VWFS' name (assuming you didn't have the V5) in which case the notice would have gone straight to them. Perhaps they forwarded to you in error? When I say the morning after, I mean the early hours (0120).

Does anyone have any experience with chipped windscreen? I had a chip repaired but it's still slightly visible. It's also in drivers view. Car due to go back soon. Do I have to get the screen replaced? Or is it ok because it's been repaired?
On the BCA form it asks about chips on windscreen, I'm unsure what to do for the best?
Edit, the visible repair is literally 1mm x 2mm. Looking at mot rules that would be ok to pass.

Hi,
Apologies but new member here and you guys clearly know a lot more than I do – I’m hoping for some help.
I have an Audi A3 to return in mid-September and there are several issues with the car that I need to understand before I return it.
Several areas need repairing – I have a dent in drivers door, done by a lovely member of the public who decided to leave no details – the Audi approved garage that I visited said virtually the whole side of the car will need re-spraying so that there is no mis-match on the colour between panels.
I also have scuff marks over one front wheel arch and a dent in the front bumper with scuff marks a bit further down – don’t ask……
I would also estimate that all four wheels have been kerbed enough for that to come into question (I’m not the only driver of the car!)
I have seen a price list on this thread for Volkswagen – can I expect similar prices from Audi? The car is leased from Audi Finance.
I took it to an Audi Approved Garage last week for a quote – the quote has come back at £5500. I’m guessing it be just getting the bill from Audi Finance instead as judging by that price list it will be cheaper? If it was done at the Audi garage it would be done through insurance. At worst I would be looking at 4 panels that need work on (if they include re-spraying other panels for colour balance) and 4 wheel refurbs – if the price list is similar to the Volkswagen one then that would be less than £800. Would I have that right?
Also, will the inspection happen before the car gets collected – i.e giving me time to do get repairs done based on what the inspection finds instead of taking the gamble to get the repairs done and the inspection may not be as harsh as I fear? Seems a bit of a mixed bag from what I have read on here.
Further information that may or may not be relevant – my car is being returned on 13k miles when I predicted usage of 24k – will that have any bearing on how tough they are?
Any help, as I think you can tell, will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks - didn't think it would count for much if anything.
Yeah I think the £5500 quote is a long way off the mark from people I've spoke to and from reading through this thread. There seems to be a lot more work added to the quote from the discussions I had with them on Friday which I'm sure do not need doing.
The balancing act is that I could get the work done through insurance for around £1200 on 2 claims or wait for the bill...which from reading here I still think could come in lower. I'm sure the dent on the door is not significant enough to require a new door, likewise the dent on the bumper. The added cost will come I expect from additional panels needing to be sprayed to keep the colour balance.
