Hi there , i curently have a vw arteon 2019 , the car lease contract is for the next 3,5 years still, but my business was affected by the pandemic so i cannot afford to pay the car at all , even after those 3 months of holidays, settlement figure is quite big, and obviusly i cannot afford to pay that as i don't have a business running at all anymore, do you have any advice what should i do in this case?(i tried to look for other companyies to swap the lease but no chance). smile

I suspect you have to negotiate with VWFS, nothing else to do.

The settlement figure will be 55% of the total of the remaining payments so not a practical alternative until your in the last year of the lease with maybe a big service and tyres coming up. As said above you must speak to VWFS as soon as possible - certainly before you miss any payments.

if it is a business lease, and the business is in liquidation then surely the vehicle just goes back and VWFS just goes onto the list of creditors?

does your business insurance not cover certain things, or has it all been force majeured?

My A8 will be going back soon and I'm trying to asses if it's worth fixing certain things or how much VWFS will charge me.

3 wheels are damaged in some way (London and bus gates). If one alloy has a few scratches that are longer than BVRL standard, am I charged just one set of fee for it - £36? These are 21 inch alloys so plenty of space to scratch it in a few places on one alloy.

For example rear right wheel:

One wheel has more serious damage than scratch, in two places (bloody bus gates!) Do you think I will get away with it paying only standard fee or they will want to charge me for the whole alloy, which won't be cheap. I'm considering fixing it, in case they want to charge me for the cost of new alloy wheel.

Also have scratch of around 15cm/6inch on the bottom edge of front bumper. I assume it will be £110 as per panel fee?
So .... my badly damaged wheels were deemed within wear and tear (even one with two dents) and zero cost. I only paid £55 for small scratch on a bumper, which is not on pictures above, as it happened later. I'm really happy with result. I was expecting to pay at least 3x £36 and £110 for bumper (damage in 3 places).

It's one of the good things with VWFS and definitely encourages me to stay with VWFS if there's a good promo. BCA guy said that Mercedes is horrible with damages, but to be honest, they waived the fee for damaged wheel in past, as it was below £200.

If they’re diamond cut alloys you did well, they cost a fortune to repair properly. In my wife’s case (TT) I contacted a couple of group buyers and one agreed to pay the settlement figure provided the condition of the car was as described, meaning I wouldn’t have to fork out for repairs. May be worth a go for anyone in a similar position.

21 inch Audi Rotor Alloys, definitely diamond cut. I think refurbishing would cost a lot. I couldn't believe I wasn't charged for them. Maybe half a tank of fuel and clean car helped. Also, BCA guy never collected A8 before, so was happy to drive it.

Whoever buys car at auction might be disappointed by the condition of the wheels.

diamond cuts don't cost a fortune to repair to an acceptable standard, as they can be polished. I had a single Golf R alloy done for £40. However, if you want them perfect then yes a lot more expensive

Hi chaps.

I have an A5 lease through VWFS for 3 years. Stupidly decided to extend by 3 months due a couple of things (Covid, moving house etc). I gave it and MOT and 2 new tyres a month ago. It’s due to go back in the next few months and the brake pad warning light has just come on. Does anyone know what this will cost if it hand it back like that? Does anyone know how long it’s taking BCA to come out these days? Thanks

You can book dates with BCA couple of days ahead, no problem with dates, at least in Surrey it was like this at the end of August. If there's a warning, you will probably have to sort out the issue.

How many miles did you do to get brake pads warning? I did 31K miles in A8 and brakes pads were 10% worn at the front and 20% at the rear.

Thanks for the response regarding BCA. I’m on 44k miles and the warning lights have just come on. Should I just hand it back like this?

what level of wear does the warning light represent?

It just says ‘warning brake pads low. You can continue to drive’ or something similar.

Anyone had any issues with VW on return of the car recently? They're trying to charge me £600 for 'extra hire' when its not my fault they haven't been able to collect the car. I can't get through to them on the phone either, 5 times ive tried now for 20mins.

If VW and its a lease, you can't get through on phone then email fleet services Fleet Admin<Fleet.Administration@vwfs.co.uk>

I have never called VW fleet i have always emailed them and got a response within 48 hours. Make sure you provide lease contract reference, reg plate, address and lease term.

If its BCA, same info to: <bcalcustomerservices.vwfsdefleet@bca.com>

Thanks. I have emailed them. Specifically wondering if anyone had an issue with extra lease charges when their car was not able to be collected?

Yes, it was mentioned in other thread and it was contested by people and charges were dropped.

Mentioned somewhere near the end here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

You just need to email them and point out the facts as mentioned earlier. A lot of VWFS stuff is auto generated
and they rapidly climb down when challenged on most aspects. I wonder why they don't revise and update their
systems but I guess there is always a group of customers who will just pay anything asked without question.

I'm going through this with BCA at the moment.

All they asked was the vehicle mileage. A quote for me to buy was issued within a few minutes - this was on a par with WBAC's starting price, and £3k-£4k below dealer retail.

Completed the order form and the invoice from BCA turned up next day.

Couldn't have been simpler.
