Hi guys
Need a set of new tyres on my Q5 - I do very low miles (c5k pa), so the existing Bridgestones have cracked badly before the tread has worn out.
Local garage is recommending Roadstones, which are way cheaper than many others
I don't want to sacrifice grip or performance by going cheap, but if I am going to be binning them after 5 years anyway, does it make sense to go with these Roadstones anyway?
Thanks in advance.

OP, I have never heard of the brand, however you have to sometimes wonder why they are so cheap. Q5 is a lovely car, I would be fitting something more reputable. If you are worried about cost, give Camskill a try, they are usually miles better on price on the bigger brands.

Then don't buy cheap ... because you will likely do both.

The garage told me that the cheaper tyres will mean fewer miles, which isn't a problem for me as I do so few. However my instinct tells me to aim more mid-range. Avons for example seem highly regarded...

Good quality tyres only need to save your life once to be worth the money. Think about it.

Only you can decide how much of a cheapskate you are.
