Collecting my S4 on the 23rd November from Audi Blackburn which I got from one of the bargain lease deals earlier this year. How is everyone finding their S4 so far?

I'm coming from one of the £107.99 Golf GTI deals of 2 years ago, so quite an upgrade. Starting to develop a knack for getting these deals!
What deal did you get on the S4?

I'm 7 months in now. Loving the compactness (versus my last car which was an S8!), very wieldy, lovely sound, never need more performance, quality interior, and pretty decent economy.

Downsides: steering is a bit dead (no surprise there), ride is unnecessarily harsh (air suspension would have been nice), MMI is designed for dextrous 12 year old Playstation experts, lacks goodies as standard (even my wife's Qashqai has memory seats, folding mirrors and a camera), and I hate, absolutely HATE, pre-sense.

I'm being a bit harsh actually. I really do like it.
Nice to hear you're impressed with it especially coming from your S8! I was quite shocked about the lack of folding mirrors also considering the list price of the car. Roll on the 23rd now.

The alarm on my S4 randomly likes to go off. Occasionally it doesn’t lock and the steering is crap.

Other than that it’s great, love the sound it makes and I’m averaging 39mpg on my commute to work! Only trouble is I’m probably going to at least double my mileage, d’oh!

Make sure you get the contract redone rather than pay excess. Knocked about 3ppm off for me, so about £200 on 8000 miles. Once the admin fee had been accounted for.

Can you get the contract re done, how far were you in? And was it with Audi of independent lease company?

I did it at about 15 months IIRC. You ring VWFS up and say "can we adjust the mielage" or words to that effect, they tell you the cost over the phone (I had an excel spreadsheet at the ready so I could input figures to get what the effectve PPM saving was and to account for the admin fee) and then if you OK it they send a new contract to sign.

What’s everyone paying for services?

I’ve rung round a few garages today, Wakefield, Leeds and Harrogate all wanted £499 for oil and inspection.

Ended up with Doncaster Audi who initially wanted £422, but with a little bit of ‘haggling’ managed to get 10% off that taking it down to £380. I can’t see it getting any cheaper than that so I’ve booked in, although I was sure i’d seen cheaper somewhere...

9 months in, 17k miles and counting.

I rang York Harrogate Stockton and Hull, Hull was cheapest at £258 oil and inspection. Harrogate was most expensive at £480. York was about £450 and Stockton was £380.

Well I did ask the question about Hull as I was sure I’d heard the £258 you mention. The guy on the phone said it would be the same price as Doncaster as that’s a JCT600 garage too.

Hahaha, so is York and they were nearly twice the price!

I'm dreading the prices Audi are going to quote up here for a service on the S4. Anyone know what the charge is for not getting it serviced at an Audi garage? The prices they are charging for just an oil change are scandalous.

£400 IIRC. Not sure if that is total or per service.

I know this is a long shot especially as I can only see one mention on this thread of someone getting, well I mean ordering, an S6 Avant but I'll try anyway.

Did anyone on here get a red S6 Avant?
Cheers!

Weird, I’ve just spoke to hull direct and the best price they can do for oil & inspection was £407. Even just an oil service was around £317. Will have to make do with Doncaster at £380.

I think a lot of it is supply and demand. I got in at about a weeks notice in Hull whereas everywhere else was about a month

My 10 month old S4 has suddenly got a bit rattly which is really annoying as it was super tight when I got the car. It's saggy like a 10yr old Vectra now.

I think the rattle is from the passenger side door and something near the rear of the car as well.

Anybody else experienced this?

The door seals on all cars now need regular treatment, otherwise they go hard and tend to rattle. I use Gummi Pledge, it's about a tenner on Amazon, do it every few months, only about a 15min job and no door rattles.
