Hi, I have an 18month old gtd which I have had from new. Over the 18month period I have put just short of 40k on the clock. Over the last week or so I have notice an unusual sound from the engine, almost like theres another motor running along side the engine?? More noticeable when I am on the motorway. I have booked the vehicle in with VW to get it checked out. Didn’t know if anyone had any ideals of what this could be? Or maybe it’s nothing as not warning lights have come on etc. Thanks

My GTD can start to recirculate on the move if that could be the noise

It could be the radiator fans running, which happens when the DPF is regenerating. If the regeneration is not completed before the engine is switched off then the fans run on for approx. 5mins.

While a DPF regeneration is taking place the car feels kind of "rough" and the idle speed is raised.
