Hello - I am looking at buying a cheap runaround and I have found a 2005 Audi A3 TDI SE.

It has a full service history, but the mileage is 190,000.

Car appears to be in good condition, has six months MOT, and is on for £1,700. The MOT history is also good so it's been looked after.

Anyone had experience of this engine? I'm not anticipating much in the performance stakes, but I'm keen to know if anyone on here has owned one with this sort of mileage. Thanks.

Is it the 1.9 TDI? 115bhp variant? If so, I had a Passat with this engine that gave me no engine trouble at all, ever, and ran like new when I sold it with 270,000 miles on its odometer. I changed the oil every 10k and cambelt every 80k and that was all it ever needed except for a clutch at 180k.

I'm another cheerleader if it's the 1.9. I've had a few. The most recent was one of the BXE codes that was meant to be one of the few fragile ones. I traded it in running nicely at 160K. I've had others over 200 achieving amazing mpgs of comfortably over 70mpg.
