The saga continues. I bought my wife an Audi Ultra about 3 wks ago from a reputable local garage. It has been back to the garage three times in the last three weeks with the EML light on.

The failiure when i read the codes shows as:

1 Fault Found:
19226 - Particulate Trap Bank 1
P2002 00 [101] - Efficiency Below Threshold
Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00000001
Fault Priority: 2
Fault Frequency: 1
Mileage: 103678 km
Date: 2019.06.24
Time: 15:41:18

Engine speed: 1540.50 /min
Normed load value: 72.9 %
Vehicle speed: 90 km/h
Coolant temperature: 92 °C
Intake air temperature: 82 °C
Ambient air pressure: 990 mbar
Voltage terminal 30: 14.420 V
Unlearning counter according OBD: 40
Exhaust mass flow of low-pressure EGR: calculated: 3.046
Differential pressure ratio: low-pressure EGR: 34.6 kg/h
Exh.recircul. 2: differential pres.sensor 1 bank 1: adap. value: 67.8 hPa
Exhaust recirculat.2: different.press.sens.1 bank 1: raw value: 69.1 hPa
Exh.recircul.valve 1 bank 1: pos.feedback - Act.value: 87.63 %
Exhaust recirc.valve 2 bank 1: posit.feedback - Act.value: 62.07 %
Exh. gas recirc. 2: diff. press. sensor 1 bank 1: dyn. value: 66.5 hPa

I cleared the error code and it came back within 100 miles. The car has been returned to the garage and they have cleared the codes and also tried a regen. Again, the light came on again in a few miles. The garage then tried replacing the pressure sensors and again doing a regen, but the light has come on again.

They now plan to give the car to a DPF cleaning specialist next week. Should I be worried? Should i ensure that both bank 1 and bank 2 are cleaned?

Could the fault be the cleaning cycle itself? I am confused...... Please help.....

I don’t know what an Audi Ultra is but it sounds like they should be replacing the DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) and not trying all the cheap options. Try to push for them to replace it.

So it has done about 60k miles, not suire how old or what car.

If I were you I would get some Lucas DPF cleaner from ebay, (£14), get half a tank of posh diesel in it and lob the cleaner in, then go out and razz it about for 50 miles or so, get it real warm, lots of revs, and see if it then logs a dpf regen has occurred.
If not, it is liekly the DPF is clogged beyond being able to do a self regen, in which case dealer may be able to force one.
If not, it may be worth garage taking dpf off and getting a blow torch on it to burn some carbon off and see if that allows a regen.

Or they could stick a new DPF on it....

tbh, with whatever warranty you have and being local, the latter is probably the best and cheapest option for them, save you keep coming back!

Maybe an Audi TT Tdi (Mk3)

Agree DPF filter change will probably resolve the issue but that’s £££.
