Hi,

Golf MK6 GT TDI Manual 140

Hard Brake Pedal - if brake quickly, remove force, then full braking again - no assistance - actually cannot push hard enough for the ABS to kick in.

Took it down my local VW specialist - Midland VW, they were not 100% certain but thought the brake servo. They checked the vacuum, and some sort of voltage
on some sensors (not sure), but ruled out a vacuum issue. I had a vacuum failure before this due to a faulty turbo accutaor, Midland VW change turbo accutaor and all was good. Then the pedal went hard again 3 months later, I think the issues are not connected, just back luck. As the turbo spools up fine.

It is £700 for a new brake servo including labour, as they said on my car you have to remove some engine mountings, then rock the engine forward to get at the servo, and then is still a fiddly and time consuming job.

They would fit a servo I source myself. If it is the servo, I guess I have been unlucky having one fail at 85k (car now done 100k)

So the question is, where can I get a second hand servo taken from another car? I have looked at eBay - but the listings never mention the mileage of the car it came out of.

Are they are any companies that specialists in used / refurbished VW parts, that might offer a warranty, but crucially state the mileage of the used part?

Thanks
Freddie
