Anyone know if an Alfa 156 came with a factory fit zender bodykit and lowered suspension?

Thinking of going to take a look at the one in the classifieds, seller claims it was factory fitted as a rare spec, I am not so sure. Makes quite a difference to whether or not I can insure the thing for a reasonable premium - as presumably if factory fitted it isn't a modification.

Cheers

It may have been a "dealer option" as opposed to factory option, I'm not aware of a factory option on that kit, but thats not to say the seller is misrepresenting the ad.

In any case, the car looks in very good shape if its the same one I think you will be looking at. Bit of TLC inside the engine bay and that car will be in very nice condition. P.S. I had both my fuel rails replated (zinc nickel and yellow chrome passivation) for £60.

Good luck.

Thanks.

It is the only 2.5 v6 on PH (and none on AT!) so you are probably looking at the same one! Over on the smoker's barge thread there is some confusion as to what spec it is - and the bodykit/suspension question may be the deciding factor as to whether or not I can get a reasonable insurance premium on it.

The Zender kit was a dealer option in many markets, including the UK. For a long time, a lot of the optional stuff for Alfas (from around the time of the Alfetta GTV onwards) was manufactured by Zender - wheels, body kits, interior options, etc. They also offered upgraded suspension parts, exhausts, and various other bits though I'm not sure they actually manufactured these parts themselves. Zender and Alfa had quite a long partnership really, I think it only ended in 2007 (ish) as Zender went bust. But they're now back up and running doing bits for the 4C, Giulietta, and some other cars.

The 156 qualifies for some classic car specialist policies, usually on a classic car policy without an agreed evaluation the declared mods make hardly any difference to a premium.
