Have been meaning to post this for a couple of days...…. Was travelling behind a recent Audi (had fancy 'progressive' indicators), but I didn't pay attention to the reg details, which may have revealed the ageredface. The weather was misty, and the rear fog light was on, but NO REAR LIGHTS, which was a surprise, as on most (all?) cars the lights have to be on for the fog light to work. I was right behind it when stopped at a roundabout, so it wasn't the rear lights not being visible through the fog rolleyes - they definitely weren't on - can anyone explain if this is how they are intended to work?

Don't know the answer - but curious to know if the brake lights were working?

Put this in Audi, VW Skoda etc on Friday, but only 1 reply, so thought I'd try it here.

Not allowed by regulation. If fog is on tail lights must also be on.

Sounds like the Audi was broken.

  • Edit, actually I lie, it is possible to have the front and rear fogs on together independently of the low/high beam should the OEM configure the system that way.

VAG cars seem to attract more than their fair share of people who plug in coding tools and fanny about with the lights... So it's possible someone has decided that's a cool mod or (more likely) ballsed things up because they don't know what they're doing.
