Thanks for sharing the pictures Simon, I've been trying to find a picture of the new steering wheel and if the car has google maps unsuccessfully until I came across this thread. Did you have to change anything in the settings to get google maps to work or is it just ready to go? Did you manage to see if ambient lighting can be activated via VCDS? Or any other features?Ive just ordered a white black edition the same as yours on the latest deals, can't wait to get it.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi all, I have recently taken up one of the deals for the Black Edition Touareg - Ordered back in August and have just been told the vehicle still remains to have a build week allocated. Last delivery eta was mid November but it's safe to say that won't be the case!
Is anybody else experiencing these delays or have any other information to hand?
Thanks

Hi,
Also have a black edition on order and received this from the dealer. Ordered 15/10/2020
Vehicle Status
Current ETA to dealer compound: w/c 21st December
Re the camera. I also have a Polo and the camera is behind the VW badge an the boot and this flips up every time you put it in reverse This is a brilliant idea and have had the car just over two years and haven't cleaned the camera once.

If you put the car in reverse and push the wiper stalk away from you, a little jet rinses the camera- geniusAlso have a black edition on order and received this from the dealer. Ordered 15/10/2020

Just over 1 month in with the Touareg and although I don't use it too much I have managed to rock up 1K miles.
Stuff I don't like (no real surprises)
Everything is touchscreen = Bad. Takes your eyes of the road to do simple task like HVAC adjustment. Maybe after sometime this will become second nature but at the moment I don't like because you cant get comfortable.
It does feel like a jacked up estate rather then a true 4x4 like the MK1 of old.
The interior is nice for a £30K-£40K car but I would feel much more comfortable spending £60K ish on a range rover sport.
The auto box is slow, mixed with light and slightly disconnected steering feel makes it Its difficult to drive smoothly and get a rhythm at low speeds.
No low range.
Stuff I like
The engine. Its great. Lovely V6 TDI, pulls well and averaging 40mpg on a 200 mile trip. Middle 30's dotting around.
Terrific looks. Park it up and I double take. That would never happen with a X5 Q7 etc. The proportions are great and one of the few car the 'black grill, wheels etc' enhance rather than the chrome. Its not too flash and also has a presence that very few cars pull off.
Very comfortable, even with the large 21" wheel.
Solid and well built. Nothing you think mmm that wont last. Just works.
It contrast to my comments above at medium to high speeds its wonderful. The steering and chassis begin to work together and once the engine is singing it becomes a joy to drive, better that the 5 series that it replaced.
Also it feels like it will go far offroad.
Overall it's great. I wouldn't spend big money on a new one as ultimately it feels like a very large golf. But the lease deal was a snip and ultimately its a very capable machine.

Evening all,
I've had a call today from the lease Co to say that the car is delayed due to RDE2 testing and that they can't build/ship the vehicle until it has passed the tests - noted that all manufacturers are undergoing this issue and thus causing delays to all vehicles. Eta now pushed back to December from original end of October eta

Hi ,
Is everyone enjoying their Black Edition Tregs?
I’ve just put down a deposit on a 2020 Black Edition. 2k miles. What do you guys class as a good lease deal? I want to make sure I am not missing something before I proceed. I’m buying cash but could be swayed if the leases are good..My wife does 15k mikes a year. Best I’ve found is around £32k over 4 years. Which works out about £666 per month. VW PCP deal are awful on used cars at 9.9%.
We have had the two previous model Tregs, R-Line and Altitude and ran them both for over 4 years each, so we tend to keep them a while. I think the Treg is underrated and better value vs Audi and X5 etc....

We've leased ours and it costs around £19.5K total over 36 months. This was a VW covid special in August, less than £500 deposit and 3 month payment holiday. Only option was Met paint. Is everyone enjoying their Black Edition Tregs?

The PCP deals at the time were coming out around £700pm. With road tax PCP would of cost around £10K more over the same term.
My thoughts above and I'm nit picking really. Great car.

Just found a brand new offer, Black Edition £50k for cash or (5.4%) or £53,750 with 0%. The one I had found was £48,999 for 9 months old and 2.9k miles. I think new on 0% seems the way to go. Thoughts ?
When I worked in the trade you couldn’t differentiate the price of a car for a cash or finance buyer, has that rule changed? You’re not getting 0% if you’re paying more for the car, the deals just loaded differently, that’s all wrong to me, but it’s been 15 years since I was in the trade.
Yes - deal is £53k for 0% deal or £50k for cash or 5.4% finance. So agree, reality is I’m paying £3k interest / finance premium. Still cheaper than the 5.4% offer over 48 months and prefer to pay £580 a month vs £50k cash. I will make more than £3k with the £50k invested in a stocks and shares isa over the 5 years. Balloon is £20k after 4 years.
I think is quite a good deal. £10k off list. Smarter money would be a 12 month old R Line Tech for £40k (cash as with finance it would cost the same as my new black edition) but I think the BE looks ace and I would always regret not getting it.
