VW Touareg Lease Deal

Hi All, finally found a thread regarding Touaregs, and read through all the comments, and some of the delivery times have been a real eye opener.
I ordered a 2 year lease through select car for a 2024 Touareg R in matte grey in Feb this year. Delivery was estimated May/June lol this has been pushed back 3 times to now Sept/Oct with no build date confirmed, so I can imagine this won’t be the last change. Select Car advise this is due to a shortage still on semi-conductor chips. I am getting to the point where I am considering cancelling and opting for another brand which is in stock. Which I am gutted about a) because everything I have read confirms the Touareg is a fantastic car, and underrated and b) they are as rare as hens teeth, I rarely see a Touareg on the road (probably because they can’t build the bloody things!)
Question is, would you guys hold out, I thought the build times were just a lot better now we are out of covid etc, but I can imagine I will not be seeing it until the end of the year / maybe new year so total wait of 10-12 months. Anyone know if deliveries are getting quicker or just the usual VW pain / slowness?
I can't offer any insight into delivery times for factory orders, but I just took delivery of an MY24 Black Edition 286 in no-cost white, which I ordered two weeks prior. It was a stock vehicle at VW Stockport and I believe the broker said they had other colours/engines in stock. I'm not sure if that includes the R and/or your choice of colour, but it might be worth asking around a few other brokers, or even getting in touch with VW Stockport directly? I dealt with Pavan at Lease My Vehicle, if you wanted to start there.I ordered a 2 year lease through select car for a 2024 Touareg R in matte grey in Feb this year. Obviously you might have a battle on your hands to get your admin fee back, if you did go down that route.
Best of luck!
Can any previous/current owners point me in the right direction regarding tyre pressures?
I've got everything setup as I want it in the infotainment etc, and think I've explored all the menus (and checked the online manual which is distinctly unhelpful), but for the life of me I can't find anything to tell me what the current pressures are?!
Is that functionality missing or am I being thick?

My lease is up in September and really unsure what to consider next (aside from Touareg number 3!)
What has everyone else moved to or considering?
Considering X5 4.0d. However, I’ve just paid my balloon on the Tourareg BE. £20k, 30 k miles after 4 years old. A year old X5 4.0d is circa £70k. I just can’t justify the additional money over the Tourareg as I still like the looks and the tech is great too. Dealers are a different story ! What has everyone else moved to or considering?
We're considering a nearly new or new Touareg to replace a Discovery 5 with DPF niggles. There only seems to be one or two Facelift purely petrol cars knocking around which is my preference after the DPF/Diesel issues on the Disco.
Does anyone have experience of the 340bhp V6 3.0TSI car? Presumably it's a similar unit to the V6 petrol Cayenne? Or is the VW 3.0TDI pretty bomb proof? It's lots of short runs that the Discovery 3.0 V6 diesel doesn't like so interested to hear if any Touareg diesel owners have had problems.
Still not sure about the hybrids as a long term ownership proposition, especially as we tend to buy our cars and keep them for years rather than lease.

Other than the aforementioned return to steering wheel buttons, probably those pesky light bars and [rear] illuminated VW badge! Not sure what else.
A VW dealer has told me the only thing they can see thats different is upgraded headlight washers and the steering wheel buttons. Kilogram said:
Congrats Simonwhite2000, great to know your initial thoughts and impressions when you get your Hybrid R. Are you expecting it soon?
End of July early Aug. Had looked at the X5 50e as well mainly due to almost twice the EV range, but once specced to the same level the monthlies were £272 more than the R. simonwhite2000 said:

I briefly considered the Cayenne for its bigger battery and longer EV range, but in the end, I just couldn't justify the extra cost. I used to have a 2021 Touareg Black Edition and absolutely loved it, so I'm looking to stick with the Touareg for my next car.I'm now looking at the R Hybrid, but I'm curious how it drives compared to the BE diesel especially with the 22" wheels. I had 21s on my Black Edition and honestly think they look way better.
Unfortunately, none of the local VW dealerships have an R Hybrid available for a test drive, so I'm hoping someone here might be able to share their experience. How's the ride comfort and handling with the 22s? And how does the hybrid powertrain compare overall?
Would really appreciate any thoughts!

With regards to the powertrain its nowhere near as good as the X5 50e but that doesnt make it bad (far from it), it just feels a bit last gen in comparison. Very smooth and quiet in EV and enough power for around town. The engine comes in smoothly and it all works well. Of course the range is half that of a 50e but when I started looking at distances to the places we typically go on a day to day basis - nursery, office, supermarket, family etc. All are within the EV range so with the cheap charging it will be relatively 'cheap' to run. Also worth noting that the insurance for the R is only £80 a year more than the BE.
The monthlies for the R are also over £100 less than the diesel when looking at the offers that are out there at the moment. Versus the X5 50e, once I had specced the BMW to the same level as the R it was a whisker under £300 a month more and I simply couldn't justify that.
Mine should arrive end of July/early August so Ill share my thoughts on it once its here. I didnt tick any options aside from Silicon Grey paint (Lapis a bit shouty for me).
As a final note our other car is an id7 and we didn't want to go full EV on both cars just yet so I think the hybrid will help us with running costs but also give us flexibility on longer trips for family days out.
Really encouraging to hear that the ride on the 22's is still 90% as good as the BE with 21's. Like you, comfort is a big priority for me, and I was worried the larger wheels and lower profile tyres might ruin the refinement a bit, especially on typical UK roads. Sounds like VW have done a decent job balancing it.
Also appreciate your take on the powertrain. I’ve heard the X5 50e is a bit of a benchmark in this space, so it’s good to know the R still holds its own, even if it’s not quite as cutting-edge. For day-to-day driving, quiet and smooth EV running with a seamless engine handover is probably all I really need. Likewise, most of my local trips fall well within EV range, so the cost savings would definitely add up, especially with home charging.
Definitely making me lean even more towards the R eHybrid. I'm speaking with the dealership I got my 2021 BE from about getting the Touareg R later today, if the numbers work out then I think I might get it, but I'd like it in white with the black wheels like the BE I enjoyed.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts once yours arrives — sounds like a great spec with the Silicon Grey too.
