VW Touareg Lease Deal

Ive received my car today, pleased with it, my second Touareg but I have the same problem in setting myself up as Primary User. Did your issue resolve itself or did you have to seek dealer advise ?

Nice pic! Lovely car, isn't it? They really are a joy to drive! Edited by Benito88 on Saturday 20th September 14:20
That said, the VW app and "primary user" setup let the experience down a bit. In my case it took around 10 days to get sorted. The dealership had no idea how to deal with the error message and more or less washed their hands of it.
Thankfully, the VW Digital Services Team were much more helpful. They explained that:
There's an activation period of about 7 days for the built-in eSIM.
After that, it can take a few more days for the car and servers to authenticate the necessary security certificates.
On the 11th day, I received the following instructions from them, which finally worked:
‐-
To successfully connect your vehicle online and complete the main user login, please follow these steps:
Switch on ignition, manually connect vehicle online (via globe at top left of HMI(Screen)) – wait approx. 5 min.
Then switch the ignition off and on, start the main user login via the VW app and scan the QR code in the HMI(Screen) – and you're done (main user logged on in vehicle).
‐-
Hope that helps.
Thanks for sending this, at this stage it wont work for me but then again I'm only on day 8 since taking delivery so will wait a few more days and try again to see if it corrects itself and works.
I've not found the VW Digital team particularly helpful if I'm honest.
Other than that the car is a pleasure to drive. I've noticed some tiny upgraded details such as the wipers don't make a noise moving side to side anymore. I had an early morning airport trip the other day and was amazed by the HD lights, wasn't sure at first but they seem to work great :-)

yes eventually... i found it very frustrating and time consuming having to supply so many pics, videos and make numerous calls ...
what i have noticed is the reversing camera doesn't seem to have the option to go full screen like my previous Touareg, ive played with the set up but no, similarly there appears to be no camera display on the off road mode as before... do I still have a problem with the set up or has the camera functionality changed ??

So on the last model version there was a arrow indication to the right of the rear / front camera display screen as you show it in your pic which allowed it to go full screen and removed the parking display to the right completely... with the off road mode the front camera came on if travelling under 15mph, I only found this by accident and of course I never used it.
Odd VW have taken this functionality away from the latest version but the subtle tweaks in other areas are appreciated, I do think the ride has improved and it was pretty good before on the air suspension. Also gear box hesitation improved but still there. Big fan of the silicone grey as it hides the dirt...
Forgot to mention the wireless Car play and full screen display being a well overdue upgrade.

I hadn't even noticed that - well spotted. Yes there are quite a few subtle improvements for sure. I prefer the font on the dials and the gearbox is better but as you said, still not perfect. How's the R Hybrid preforming, any pros and cons worth mentioning so far ???
Its surprisingly fast using all the power together. Loving the upgraded leather seats (similar to nappa in Audis or merino in BM's) and the 22"s havent done much to the ride which is another surprise. The EV part is working for us despite the 30 mile range. I think thats the deal breaker. If that 30 mile range doesnt suit probably best get the diesel. Its nippy enough on ev too. For us, everything is quite close, nursery is only a few miles away, my office is 10 miles each way, my wifes office is 6 miles each way, all my wifes family are within 10 miles. So with cheap charging its working great and accompanies our id7 well. The negative is of course long distance where you use the petrol with a dead battery but we haven't done much of that. We are going to see my Dad in Fleetwood and then do the Blackpool lights this weekend, so that will be a more expensive trip from Liverpool than if we had the diesel.
Do miss that low down shove of the diesel though and thoroughly enjoyed our previous two 286 Blk Eds.
If I was to mention cons it would be range, as that won't suit everyone, ride quality take a slight dip (id say its 90% as comfortable), thirsty when battery dead. Pro's are its fast, upgraded wheels and seats look great, local journeys are now very cheap (costs £1.05 to charge battery to 100%) and its very quiet and refined.
I went for it as we had a charger installed already for the id7 and having had 2 diesels just wanted a change. The price at the time was also actually cheaper than a 286 diesel plus I would have had to pay extra for the interior lighting pack.

Anyone seen any really good deals on these please? My current Black Edition goes back end of January (paying £605 maintained on a 3+35 for 8k p/a), and best I've seen is about £680 on the same terms for non-maintained. Wanted a change but don't fancy the alternatives at £1k or so a month.

£680 seems fair in the current market. Are you not able to extend your current lease? Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
