Transporter T5 Gear linkage cables
Discussion
I had the gearbox bearings overhauled in this a year ago and at the same time fitted a new flywheel and clutch kit.
Van drove fine afterwards but the gearshift didn’t feel that positive as if something I’d disturbed needed adjusting, the self centering wasn’t quite right either.
Recently I’ve had problems engaging first and second, it feels as if it’s engaged but take up the drive and it hasn’t.
I found this guide online and wondered could anyone confirm its accuracy, I don’t want to mess any other gears up.
The T5 forums are awful quiet and often threads don’t get a response.
It’s a 2006 1.9 Tdi 5 speed.
Thanks

Tried the guide listed above and unfortunately then had trouble with third so please be careful if you ever come across this thread.
Seems the correct way to adjust is to pin the selector end in second, as it describes in the documents listed on the above thread.
Sent it to a local garage who replaced the cables and all is well.
