Thread resurrection. My wife's 2012 A3 has the Audi MMI with double SD slot and an iPod I bought her on it in glove compartment. I also had a A6 with same. I am working on an Apple Mac, El Capitan.

SD cards never worked properly on either so spent some time dragging and dropping from iTunes. M4a files not working at all, so I converted (on SD card only, for safety) to mp3 via App 'To MP3'. The car now read all the files. But... came up with a load of duplicates starting '._ with the same names. Car reads these as 'corrupt'. Grrrr.

Just downloaded Xustomite from App store and cleaned the SD card(s) to remove "Recursively .DS_Store, ._AppleDouble and Thumbs.db files from a specific location".

Hey presto, all corrupt files disappeared. No files or folders and weirdo names but it recognises the band and song. Phew.

Plus, I used a spare camera card, a 16GB SDHC fastish one. No problem. I tried the Terminal method but might be me, it did not work.

Obviously, usual disclaimers with fiddling with computers - perhaps use only on the cards direct, not the Mac.

Edited to say that USB stick in glove compartment worked fine as was, M4a files etc like an iPod, so no need for cleaning up.
