ECU map random question
Discussion
Sitting there with Rover gauge looking at the map and can't help wondering why nearly half the entries on the ECU fuel map are below idle, and are nearly identical. I'm surprised that so much of the map is dedicated to revs this low, especially when there is almost no difference between them. I would have thought you want more detail in the map where you use it.
Any experts out there that can enlighten me in my pondering?

Stock map needs to be able to produce a stable and smooth idle in all conditions / altitudes / temperatures / fuel qualities I assume.
As I recall, one of the features of the Tornado chip is that the map is moved up the range to better cover > 5000rpm. As a result, target idle speed is increased due to the limited map size in the 14CUX. [NB. This is based on hazy memory, MarkAdams would be able to confirm]

I’m no expert but I always assumed its because TVR raised the base idle between 200 to 300 rpm but didn’t shift all the column to the left to keep the idle in the same column as Land Rover.Any experts out there that can enlighten me in my pondering?
Thanks to the recent 14CUX team effort I’ve successfully run Julian (Griffian) rpm set points (see below) plus Joolz’s all new RPM set points that are more evenly spaced out with only 2 columns below idle and are more like the set points he uses on aftermarket ECUs.
I’ll happily change your set points for you but you’ll have to visit Joolz for a full re-map and therefore its not beneficial enough unless you already require a full re-map due to engine mods.
