When I stripped my '92 Griffith, I don't recall a big fuse on the chassis rail, by the Starter...Did all the early ones have this fuse in place?

I've read somewhere on here that maybe they didn't - However, my(new) battery lost its charge, after a week...

Any help.???

My Aug '94 Griff 500 has never had one, so assume it must be a later fitment?

Precats don't have the 100A fuse as far as I know - my old one didn't anyway. Should still be a big 80 or 100A fuse near the ECU loom though.

If fitted the 100A fuse is in the wire between alternator and battery so if blown (more likely a hairline crack and very difficult to see) you will get no charge through to the battery.

The fuse in the footwell (normally 80A) is between battery and fusebox so nothing to do with charging. If anything electric is working on the car then this fuse is OK with a small caveat. As said before the fuse fail could be a hairline crack rather than a blow. In this case there is a remote possibility it could pass a small current like putting the ignition lights on but not pass higher currents like start or headlights.

Your 92 pre-cat won't have the dreaded 100a fuse.

Have you turned off the interior lights?
The relay for the interior light still uses power if the door is open even if the lights are switched to the off position.

Other than that and leaving the lights on I don't know much which flattens the battery.
