New car is called Griffith

Somewhat underwhelmed myself. Just not distinctive enough or even beautiful enough. There is so much competition at that level nowadays from the likes of the AMG GT Merc, 911, F Type Jag, Maserati, I8, etc, that you need more than to just look very nice. Especially from what will be an unknown quantity with it effectively being a new company. Every TVR I have ever owned has majored on being very distinctive at its time, and still now. 280Tasmin,350, 420 SEAC, Griffiths and Chims (and now another Griff 500) but my first thoughts on this were that the front resembled the Toyota GT86/Subaru, the profile and F Type or the Toyota again and the rear is just a bit of a mess. Such a shame. I really wish TVR well and I am sure it will be very special to drive but again, they all are at that sort of price point.
For looks I would go for the Merc AMG GT. And actually for pretty much everything I would choose that car probably although all are a bit small for my tastes as an everyday car these days.

Pretty much my feelings as well with regard to TVR. I wish them well but 90k is a lot to spend just for brand loyalty and at that price there are many other cars I prefer. Personally I would go for a 2 year old F type V8 and have 40k to spend on something else. For looks I would go for the Merc AMG GT. Nevertheless good luck to TVR and the new Griff and I am sure it won't do the older TVRs any harm. Pete
It's all a bit "derivative".
Both front and rear are better in twilight/the dark with the lights on. And the electronics in our XC90 are better integrated.
It had better be screwed together exceptionally well and go like stink both in a straight line and round corners or at that price point it will get murdered.
GM should give it some credentials if he was given enough of a hand in it.
All that said, maybe 90k is the new 30k. Ferrari and the rest upped their pricing a few years ago considerably. Porsche are in the process of doing the same with the 911. So maybe 90k shouldn't be scoffed at.
(The wheels are hideous).

I got invited to Goodwood on Sunday and had a chance to have a look at the new Griff. Here are a few pics in case you are interested:
My opinion hasn't changed I am afraid. The rear (the car I mean) is slightly reminiscent of the Sagaris (the lights at least). The doors backward are OK (a bit Ferrarish), the front, I think is a mish-mash of styles.
There were a number of TVR guys floating around and one (he said he was the Finance Director) asked me what I thought and I did tell him I was a bit underwhelmed but nevertheless wished them all the best - after all, I've never had to develop a car from scratch......! It still comes down to the £90k. price, it is just too much money just to show your loyalty to the brand.

I dont have the money so thats a non starter, but it does have an ellement of ferrari about it and I dont think its as wild or individual as most tvr's but surely thats 1/2 the point. To succeed they need to broaden there appeal they have got some proper technology in it with one of the most regarded engineers in the business with a proven engine which should make it a success and I hope it does. We may even see a cheaper tvr come along later. I would buy it over all the opposition if I had the money because I want tvr to succeed.
