ground up restoration of griff 500
Discussion
i am doing a total refurb of a griff 500 and need some bits, no hurry as i will be doing it over the next year or so, just putting it out there now as some stuff is hard to find, also advice on any pitfalls of doing a total refurb, a couple of pictures for my inspiration, and to give you an idea of where it's going, this for the outside look, this for the dash with full black leather interior, black on black,
so i need cross spoke OZ alloys, black dials, walnut dash, i have pretty much everything else, i have a pair of lotus seats i was thinking of using and a set of immaculate estoril wheels with like new R888 tyres to swap for the OZ's or sell,

cai - caerbont automotive instruments still make the dials so you should be ok there. Ideally you would get the part number from at least one of the gauges you want to copy so they can do an exact match on style and colour. They can then easily match the rest from your picture as that looks like a standard setup.
This guy for upholstry that you can post (I sent him my entire dash)

Pete Griff (Pete Wiggins) is your man for dashboards. His modified dashboards are second to none.
On another matter, I am doing the same as you. I've just restarted after a 3 year break.

Very happy to exchange notes. Pete

Pete's dash takes all the hassle out of sticking the light and button "bars" on the back as he has mounting bolts added and all new botton bar hardware - absolutely worth the money. Twice the price of the one I linked , but still worth it if you are not up for the adhesive route.
I'm handy with sikaflex, jbweld etc, so "enjoyed" sticking mine back together, but I can see the appeal of the above.

What an awesome wheel and colour combo Bearing in mind those genuine wheels are as rare as rocking horse ****, and its going to be a 'ground-up build' anyways, why not buy a cheap, tired, pre-cat (therefore getting the genuine wheels for 'free') and spec the car to your desires during the build. Blueprinted 4.3... 5.0, whatever you want.
The money you save not paying the '500 badge premium tax' can be put back into the build.
Just a thought. Look forward to the updates whatever the plan.
JKM.
the car in the picture was my old 500, should never have sold it but needed to at the time!!
I have a 500 in bits but everything is there so that's what I'm starting with, have a few leads on some wheels so will get there eventually,
unbelievably not everyone shares my love of the OZ's, some nutters prefer an Estoril
