AFM woes and help needed
Discussion
so - my AFM died. the car just stopped and when I tried to start it, it fired then immediately died. easy diagnosis I thought dead AFM - because it happened a few years ago. so I unplugged the AFM and drove home. I ran like an absolute pig massively overfuelling but got me back the 50 miles.
I have just fitted a brand new genuine Bosch matching AFM insert with identical serial numbers and the car now starts and runs but it still runs like a pig, very rough, no grunt with huge clouds of black smoke if I rev it - so still massively overfuelling.
whats up?
duff new AFM?
or have I buggered something else by driving it home so far?.

Time to plug in your RoverGauge.
Don't tell me you haven't got one.......pretty much an essential tool these days.
Jesting aside it will tell you if the lambdas etc are working and if the temperature readings are OK.
Have seen cars that run rough and over fuel only to find the water temp sender has died so the ECU thinks its winter.
