I'm thinking of banning people from getting in my car now, it's just not worth the aggro sometimes.
It seems they just aern't aware of what they are doing, muddy boots etc.
The last episode was a broken glove box, after my mate tried to force it closed after putting too much stuff in it! So now the glove box drops down on the right hand side, I've had a look, but can't seem to see what's wrong. There's a threaded bolt but nothing for it to go into.
Any help appreciated...

There are two Allen headed bolts at the lower back left and right hand side of the the glove box. It sounds like the right hand side bolt has come loose. It should be lying around in the glove box. Just line up the glove box and screw it back in.
It can be a bit of a faff screwing in the bolt as it is in the back corner of the glove box which prevents turning an L shaped Allen key. I find it much easier to use a hexagonal bit in a screwdriver for that.

Can be a complete pain to align and start the thread. I start with a smaller alan key to get the holes lined up then hold everything still whilst pulling the key out and replacing with the screw.

I've had to do this a couple of times too, the bolts work themselves loose, it seems. Screw them too tight, and the glove box won't close properly.

All part of the fun! smile

and if you tighten up either side the glovebox hinge binds and doesn’t close. I used extra long bolts and once adjusted best as possible I fitted lock nuts up behind the dash, it was a faff and forget smile

Thanks folks, I can't find the missing bolt, I'll have a look around inside the car, but all I can see on the glove box are two fairly thick bolts sticking out from the sides, the one on the right doesn't seem to have anything to screw into?

Thanks all, managed to sort it out, the bolt had fallen out of the box somehow, and lodged itself under the carpet!!
Managed to get it back in and all seems fine.

Hi,
Mine was also not working. I have a radio with USB cable connection available.
I simply use the USB connector to close the glovebox. Very efficient, useful and simple.

I've got a magnetic clasp, that's fine, the problem I had was that the right hand bolt that holds the glove in had worked its way out and got swept out of the box onto the floor, it was easy to replace once I found it!
The magnet option works well, I'll take a photo tomorrow and show you...

As I'm currently sporting a broken catch, I'd be interested to understand how that works - can you post a pic ???

Hi

Here are the pics requested. You need to know that I have done the fusebox Bertram Hill modifications consisting in moving it in the glovebox (http://www.bertram-hill.com/moving-the-fuse-panel.html). Therefore there is no need for me to have a constant or frequent access.

However, considering the weight of the fusebox, I can tell you that this solution is quite efficient. Just squeezed the usb connector that came with the radio set between the glove box drawer and the glovebox frame. Never opened itself while driving!
